truck may have been rebuilt in 2015, but to my knowledge they stopped building new A2 series trucks around 2009 (all M1123s are M998A2 series vehicles)

I drove through the yard yesterday.
About 100 or so A1 trucks, and maybe 6-10 A2 trucks that I saw. Nothing ECV/REV.
I believe that the A2 helmet top was in this past wednesday's auction; if not it's the next one as I saw it on the active page tuesday when I was buying more tent components.
So not sure if you noticed all the info at the beginning of the instructions page in the maintenance manual, but here are a couple things to pay attention to.

The MT wear better/last longer, but trade off is they have less traction.
The Baja have better traction, but wear out faster.
In pretty much every category, the Baja outperform the MT hands down, except for tread life.
same story I heard. The system leaks no matter what you do, so if the truck sits a few days the tires lose pressure.

From my understanding it's not uncommon for them to be installed using threadlocker, so applying heat to the extension would be the easiest way to release it.
They were definitely NOT all updated, as PS magazine has a page where it tells everyone that if it's one range of serial numbers, during repair it takes a 3 speed transmission and another set is for the 4 speed.
to add to the above, under the driver's side rear seat base, there should be a box with wires running to it. This is the TCM (Transmission Control Module) only found on 4 speed trucks. No TCM, no 4 speed.

As Tobash said, the "P" Park position on the shifter is the first giveaway. The next is having an overdrive position and then 3,2,and 1 gear spots.
From the exterior of the truck, provided there isn't a winch installed or other front end modification, the front bumper will look like the picture...
As long as it's an M1097R1 with the 3 speed transmission the autozone halfshafts should work. If it has a 4 speed transmission then pretty much everything in the drivetrain is a different part number and not compatible.

as Mainsail said, no matter what version you get, they are pretty gutless in comparison to your average modern civilian vehicle.
The military didn't care about power/speed. They mostly just cared about what fuel it used, and if it could use parts they already had in their supply system.
newest variant of REV trucks uses a gearbox and shaft drive for the fan that is very expensive compared to the hydraulic clutch version.
The Sheppard steering box apparently is no longer made(?) and extremely expensive to replace.

the non 11XX series trucks that end in A1 are 3 speeds. The 11XX series reset the system by being enough different to warrant new designations.
The R1 trucks don't match the standard numbering system for all the other trucks for some stupid reason.
That's how it's supposed to be adjusted; loosen switch mount bolts and slide the switch one way or the other. The holes for the mounting bolts should be more like slots in which you slide the switch to adjust it.
