    5-ton won't turn over

This is the OP's first post and some of the comments here were just plain strange.

Any cdl drivers needing ride from Kansas to California after the first of the year?

Yes in CA you do need a CDL Your post is confusing, you offer a ride, want help driving, but do not have the correct license to drive the vehicle. I would think long and hard before driving an auction truck 1600 miles. You are safer to have it shipped. Will the truck pass a DOT inspection...

    Generator trailer tongue jack

The jacks fit all of the M101 trailers without modification, it just takes one bolt to swap it out. They also fit the M100 trailers. They can be made to fit the M416 trailers with a little modification.

    Generator trailer tongue jack

They are a great tool. If used correctly they are fantastic and very versatile. Mine is over 25 years old. They need a little care and thought to be safe. I hate it when I see them hung on the outside of a jeep, the weather rusts and gunks them up. Just let like snap chain binders, use a...

M882 stuck on New York docks.

Warm up for 5 minutes on fast idle before it will move is a red flag, especially considering how mild the temps are currently in the northeast. There is no reason this vehicle needs to warm up, older vehicles may be a little cantankerous when cold.

I have tried them all and the military jack works the best

Do you think an M931A2 will do this?

Where did you find a 21,000 lb hitch If you are going to use a tractor for any serious pulling you will need some real weight on the fifth wheel, this can be anything from a weight box, trench plates to a flatbed, with a load, attached to the fifth wheel.

    Lowering 5th Wheel Height

Be carful with the ramps. I have seen a lot of modern commercial trailers damaged from drivers using ramps. The fifth wheel risers are available in multiple heights.

M109a4 /a3: Reducing rpms, gaining speed / tranny / gearing solution & crowd sourcin

It can actually be an nice advantage when driving on the freeway in an older vehicle that can at least do 55. I have found my self in the right lane with an 80,000 lb battering ram protecting my six from the crazy four wheelers or weekend warriors. I had a bob tail jump in front of me to protect...

M109a4 /a3: Reducing rpms, gaining speed / tranny / gearing solution & crowd sourcin

55 mph is the three axle truck, or any trailer, speed limit here in CA. Now I have a two axle truck in the shop that should be capable of triple digit speed once we are done with it.

M109a4 /a3: Reducing rpms, gaining speed / tranny / gearing solution & crowd sourcin

The 5 tons used the MT654, this is an obsolete trans with only limited support by allison and costly parts. As long as the AT1545 locks in 3 and 4 it would operate the same. The AT1545 is 27.2" long 302 lbs SAE 3 The MT643 is 30.4" long 478 lbs SAE 2 The MT653 is the long and heavy one...

M109a4 /a3: Reducing rpms, gaining speed / tranny / gearing solution & crowd sourcin

The 4.95 gears with the stock tire diameter would be a nice setup since the truck has an allison in it. An improvement would be the MT643 over the current allison. If you want a stump pulling first gear use the MT653. The navy specified 4.88 gears, allison MT643 and low pro 22.5's. Mine runs...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

Where did this come from? I have never had an issue with a Leo assuming I was driving commercially because I have a CDL. The carb regulations are based on the use of the vehicle. Now if you have a load of lumber, firewood or other cargo on the vehicle they would question it.

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deu... Stay away from commercial due to the carb regulations. The first change that needs to be done is to remove the three axle 6,000 lbs gvw restriction. Then the CDL issue needs to be clarified. All it would take is...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

The wording on what you are permitted to operate with a class C and a non commercial class A and B is very cut and dry. Those sections do not have any vague language in them.

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

The problem with the drivers license in California is the wording in the vehicle code. With a class C license you can drive a two axle vehicle with a gvw of 26,000 lbs or less. A three axle vehicle with a gvw of 6,000 or less (yes it says 6,000 lbs). The operative word is vehicle. The non...

Ideas for a suitable S280 hauler?

Use the M1061 ties on the lengthened M105 frame with a skeleton bed to support the s280 and plastic fenders and mudflaps.
