SO, Has anyone figured out which starter fits this engine yet?? I mean a U.S. available one that fits that military plate on the engine. DB electrical says they have one but the holes on the starter flange are on the opposite side.
I see an auction at GP for some growler parts and I see a starter in the parts. Its in Albany Georgia and its for July 01 and its starting bid is $200.
If anyone has a starter they could part with for less than 400 bucks that would be great.... unless they are going to bid on this auction...
It would be nice if you could post it for us here instead of putting money into the pocket of Colonel Klink of Growler MFG after he's stolen millions from the US Gov. ... just saying
The starter you have doesn't have any markings on it? a ton of pictures with tape measure for comparison would be great here! Also, where did you order your starter from?
Yeah and I have no idea why the guy was like that...never met him in person or acted any particular way with him just nice as could be and got nothing but excuses and such...too bad I was really hoping to get this thing installed but forget it now I will sell it and put in a cummins 2.8 now
So the starter I got from Hercules was not for this engine... It doesn't fit and is too long, the snout doesn't fit the plate for the mounting...so I'm back to square one... anyone want to buy a crated MWM with a flywheel $3500 you pick up unless u want me to haul it to you.
So I have decided to go with the manual transmission and use the flywheel that I got. I am going to use the SM420 and a DANA 300... I saw a jeep site that was saying the NP205 was too wide for the frame rails. I have a 1988 Mitsubishi Montero that the MWM is going in and it is just slightly...
OK but your not going to like it... I contacted a company in Ohio called Hercules manufacturing... turns out that they are the only ones who import for MWM Brazil in the entire U.S. Don't expect anything but heartache while contacting these folks. The owner was who I had contact with the whole...
I finally got the starter and flywheel from Brazil.... My bad I needed a flexplate and starter . I went to a Brazillian website for 4x4ers and did google translate and from what I read these are great engines that are getting upwards of 3 and 4 hundred thousand miles before needing major work...
