:lost:Not sure what this has to do with GE's recovery and modifications to his M931 in Louisiana , but you might get better responses with a separate thread.
I have GOT to show my wife those photos - she thinks I'M nuts with 8 trucks (9 counting the one I won today and haven't told her about)! Nice motorpool
I'm gettin old so my memory may be faulty, but I seem to recall seeing a deuce or 5-ton on a GL auction with a road runner cartoon on the side of the hood.
If I can't preview, I budget an additional $800-1200 to get a truck home and running, and if it can't be repaired, it's only worth the sum of parts or scrap value. After too times of paying WAY too much for an item, I've learned to bid real low and hope for luck. If I don't win the bid, at...
Although they're both 5-tons, the M931 seems so much bigger than my M818's.
The problem with Jeff, everytime I visit his place, I end up buying more green stuff. I'm trying hard to resist getting one of his NHC250 engine/transmission combos for just-in-case this truck drops a valve like my...
Unless you plan to flatbed ship it to Aggieland, CSM Davis is your man, so PM him. His price to recover it to his place is reasonable, and you can pick it up there at your convienence.
Yesterday I went with CSM Davis to pick up the M931 that I won a month ago. This is the first 939 series truck for me, so I picked up a lot of new tricks and tidbits about this model. This truck was in another lot, not the normal DRMO/GL lot at Camp Shelby. This lot has hundreds of 5-ton...
Here is a photo of GE picking through Jeff's motorpool carnage location or "Palace of Parts". By the time I got to see his truck, it was dark-thiry and I was blinded by the LED headlights, so no photos.
I had fun meeting new folks and old acquaintances today. I had a great time bruising knuckles, and no alcohol was involved.
GE - I need to appologise for the damage to your trucks fender, bumper and hood, but it should buff out. Just kidding, it runs great and stops better. Sorry you and the...
My 4x4 F150 pulling a M105 trailer with a Tractor Supply 8-hole hitch plate. I had plenty of clearance and it was 14" from the ground to the bottom of the 2" receiver bar. My 4x2 F250 hitch height is 3" higher at 17" from the ground to the bottom of the bar. Your trailer must have some...
Those trailers are real handy. I usually take the cover and bows off to reduce wind drag, which will help some with the gas mileage. You may find you want to put a pin in the brake actuator to back up. In fact, I leave the pin in all the time since I pull mine with a full size pickup.
Every couple of weeks, I haul hay home to the horses on one of the M871 trailers, and pulled the M105a2 camper to the LA rally. Also have a M119 box trailer I've used to haul square bales of hay and a M295 expandable trailer I use to store parts and supplies.
GE,
You were having problems registering a 5-ton awhile back with LA. Did you ever get that resolved? I surprised myself and found that I won a M931 today and will have to register it also (if it runs).
Welcome
I don't have an auto transmission yet, but I love the power steering in the 5-tons. I hate to :deadhorse:, but a CDL is state-dependent so check with NJ regs to see if you need one.
I've got a similar problem with my M818 right front tire. I thought it was the tire or shock, but replaced both and still have very bad shake at 35+ mph. I'll take a photo of the NDT wear when I get home next week. I'm thinking the power steering hydraulic rod may be bad as it looks to be...
