I disagree with your disagreement :) GL - while I write for MV magazine - its just that, I have no inside information - but, I do notice that they have a full-color ad in every issue, and a page or two of black and white ads. And they were at Aberdeen and at the MVPA convention - sure doesn't...
RE: One of Them
Indeed be carefull. Getting stopped is a lot bigger challenge than making it roll. I saw a tri-axle Kenworth wrecker clear the ground with one side while stopping my polesetter deuce from rolling off a trailer. (me and the operator both thought it was gonna turn over - and...
Agreed - but a lot of these local politicians know the next level up in the food chain, and the next, and the next.
I don't know Lamar Alexander (my U.S. senator) - but I am on a first-name basis with a local mayor, who is on a first name basis with him.
If I am worried that my HMVs are going...
Guys, my take on the HMV hobby and politics - all politics as a matter of fact, is its a matter of who knows who.
This boils down to the personal relationship that each one of us has with our elected officials. All people - mechanics, politicians, pilots are basically the same. SS works the...
A 1954 M35 would be painted FS595A 24087 or FS595A 24084 (same color, just different numbers. As Bruce so kindly mentioned, painting details are covered in my book (sold in the Classified portion of this website as well as at various bookstores).
You will find the gas engine much quieter than...
Part of this is probably due to the Army's definition of a road. Keep in mind that the trucks were designed to operate on "roads" with a max speed below 30. And keep in mind too that five ton trucks operating on "roads" in Vietnam routinely broke frames due to the poor road conditions. Don't...
Guys,
Today Krause informed me that they have less then one hundred copies of the Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles left. No word yet on a third edition :( . I have far fewer copies than Krause - so if you want a copy, get in touch with me, or Krause, or Amazon, or Portrayal Press or any...
Real question isn't tearing your truck apart - its how much do you value human life and limb - primarily your fellow motorists, next you and your passengers, and of secondary import - how much you value your assets.
Have a wreck with injuries, and your insurance company WILL find away to...
I did some non-scientific testing with my 530C (M45A2 fire truck). This truck, even with the water tanks empty, very much outweighs a M35A2. At full throttle cruising, I can reach up and flip off the main power switch, and the truck perceptively slows.

RE: M818
A Jake Brake was invented by Clessie Cummins - that name my sound familiar to folks on this list - in 1957. The Cummins engine company, which he no longer owned, was not interested. A family friend, and relation through marriage, was owner of the Jacob's Manufacturing Company, who...
I see that your question has already been answered. To recap what others have said - never use thread sealing tape on any type of fuel system. The tolerences are far too tight - and a sliver of tape - which will happen as parts are joined, will separate and plug/jam something.

David
Depends entirely on the guarantee.....with complete running take out engines going for 500 bucks or so...the pump is worth less than that, IMHO. On the other hand, if like Memphis's, it comes with a guarantee - that adds some value (cause you know they will stand behind it) - other folks...
Great clue, thanks Jason. Is your M36A2 ex-USAF?
BTW - Oneida also built the bodies for the R2 crash trucks, school buses, and bunch of other stuff. The town and the industries (including the dinner that is probably on the tables of many of your homes) in it had their beginnings as a religous...
Its not unusual for M101s to sell for more than M105s. Until GL sold several in the past year they were getting a little tough to find, and were in fairly high demand. Although some will say its too small for the wrecker, it will couple up, and the 101 can be manhandled fairly easily. The...
