There have been several threads on the hydraulic head.
Since you've changed the head, I'll summarize. Did you open the bleeders on the filters, turn on the in tank pump, and purge the air from the system? Does the shut off lever move completely, and freely? Is the head properly timed (it is...
Welcome to the group! There is a fellow here (Jeff) who goes by the handle VTdeucedriver or such that has some very nice trucks in VT that he is selling.
Here is a thumbnail description of the trucks. Keep in mind that a LOT of people (including the seller in the ebay auction you link to) get...
Portrayal Press sells these - from my experience working on difs, the cost of the manual is nothing compared to the cost of the parts - and the time involved in working on them - especially the time working on the difs WITHOUT manuals.
Dennis has done a great job on manuals for a lot of years...
Forgot to look....I'll try to get time to look tomorrow. I've got the AMG number at my fingertips....its 5483. The Army Depot rebuilds were either 500 or 520 per year (don't remember which), and I don't remember if that was both facilities, or individually, or how many years that ran.

Hi guys!
I am trying to pinpoint the purpose/use/era of a different type of deuce hardtop.
The first photo below is what I consider to be the standard military deuce hardtop rear window.
The second photo is the odd variation. This is on a truck direct from military surplus (no dealers...

Thanks for the kind words guys :D . I've not checked in lately about the liklihood of a new edition (I'm behind schedule on another book, didn't think this would be a good time to bring it up!). I should be in a position to bring this up next week.
There are some mistakes in the current...
RE: John
If I am successful, it won't be mine - but it will be in a military museum. This will ease the paperwork thing, since it will still be government property.
Main thing is - save what is left. Maybe sacrifice a bridge truck along the way.
I'll keep you posted on any progress.

GL merely passes along the demil codes assigned by Uncle Sam. Just like anyone else, they are in business to make money - and probably they would get more for something saleable as an operable truck, rather than so many pounds of scrap. Sounds like someone at Ellsworth determined it was easier...
RE: Re: RE: Honest John
The Honest John was a field piece, not a ballastic missile, (think huge bazooka), range tables were used much like an artillery piece. The only external "guidance" equipment was a specially equipped M101 trailer with wind measuring gear known as the AN/MMQ-1 (I think I...
Yep, the army (actually GMC, at the Army's request) put the hydramatic in the Reo - but as Westy says, they also put the GMC 302 gas engine in too. This was well before the Multifuel came out.
By the way - the army conducted a lot of dynomemeter test on the Reo's and GMC's when the designs...
Big article on this has been done for Army Motors - I'll check tomorrow and find out when its scheduled for - I think issue after next.
A completely different article on this was in the June 2006 issue of Classic Military Vehicles, published in the UK.
This and the Lacrosse are a couple of my...
