I removed the piston rod from the housing and disassembled it. The black cup on the left side of the piston rod was held in with a roll pin; I have roll pin removers but since I didn't see anything inside of it that looked like needed attention, I left it alone.
I tried to use these...
I removed the air canister from the body; there was virtually no rust and the grease was still effective for the piston. No signs of tearing or dry-rot on anything here.
Pulled the photos from my Blackberry (crappy camera, but better than nothing). These are of the short, newer-style Airpack I pulled from my Deuce before disassembly.
This unit had the newer-style air switch for brake lights, but the wiring was hooked up to the old hydraulic switch...
My truck's Airpack (new, short-style) had an issue several months ago with the air-slave cylinder, where it caused brake pressure to be applied while driving and the brakes were dragging. I removed the Airpack and rebuilt it with a kit from TNJ Murray. I took photos as I went along and I...
I just fixed a friend's A3 that had the front right tire constantly going flat. While removing the CTIS hardware so we could remove the wheel from the truck, we found one of the brass connectors had a hairline crack in it. Replaced it with a part from Lowe's, hasn't leaked nor gone flat since.
One of our members in Ogden has a clean Deuce (M35A2) he is trying to sell; it has Air-O-Matic power steering too (NOT an A3! Must have been a conversion).
Hopefully he'll pipe up or PM you. I'll poke him to let him know.
Did that to mine already, still have a similar problem if mine sits too long...when I drive it enough to warm everything up, the leaks/drips go away from the axles/drums/hubs.
I haven't had any problems with the cork gaskets. I've noticed this problem on my Deuce as well when it sits for long periods. Drive your Deuce more often to get everything warmed up & that should keep everything where it should be...works on my Deuce anyway, in severe triple-digit heat...
I installed this Auberins setup with the Blue display several months ago. The standard cable length was more than sufficient, and I bundled the excess length into several loops to avoid kinks. I goes together much easier than you think, the only hard part was being patient with a square file...
Nice truck! And Semper Fi, Devil Dog! Just remember: sometimes bad things happen to good people; it's not your fault, there's no rhyme nor reason for it, sometimes bad things happen. But you are one of the very few who had the courage, integrity, and ability to volunteer - and we are...
Sorry I missed this; I've been a little overwhelmed lately.
Welcome aboard, fellow Sin City-ite. There are a few Deuces available locally (one or two on CL), but be careful of the one in Pahrump that doesn't have a title (it's overpriced for having sat so long anyway). There was a nice one...
I won a pallet load of 12 HEMTT wheels (20x10) at Herlong, and would like to see if I can get it picked up & transported to Las Vegas, NV or partway and I can pick up outside the depot/along the way back to Vegas. If someone can pick this load up for me & remove it from the base, I'd compensate...
