Many many thanks to fellow members 100DollarMan (aka Hundy) & DUG. Hundy held some multifuel engines & a radiator for me until I could pick them up, and cut me a sweet deal on a Deuce transmission. He was kind enough to let us come by on a Saturday to pick them up, and had his son Brian load...
So much for the shear strength in those U-bolts...I wouldn't drive it.
I might do some crazy modifications, but I'd NEVER do something like that. I'd much rather either: A) Have new U-bolts made that fit fully from the top of the leaf spring to the bottom of the axle; or B). Fabricate drop...
Good point. I like 2 things about them: the ability to gather intake air above & away from the dust generated by the moving vehicle, and their higher CFM. I'm already noting a restriction with the stock Deuce mushroom intake cap, I hope to solve that with one of the Donaldson intakes caps...
I'm impressed with the braking capability of my Deuce...the only upgrade I would consider would be to install a dual-circuit system. I'm quite happy with the drum brake design on these trucks, I've pulled some good loads on my trailer with my Deuce pulling it, and I've had NO issues with...
Oh heck that means that needle-nose pliers will work then too....
Needle-Nose Pliers: the Universal Caterpillar Key.
M915 keys work in M916s & M920s...I was just at Nellis checking out a 915A1 for a fellow member from out-of-state, and I snuck over to the 916s & a 920 nearby...it worked!!
The...
This is what I like about the Donaldson design & why I'll only use their air ram intakes. They have baffles at the back side of the intake that allows water to drain out of it. No water should reach your air filter housing...the Aussie truckers I've corresponded with over the years swear by...
OK, I have a confirmation on In-Stock & shipping to USA. Western Filters of Australia has the Donaldson Air Ram intakes in stock and will ship them to the USA in the $50-$60 range. John from Western Filters was kind enough to reply to my inquiries and said you can order the 4-inch air ram...
FANTASTIC info, thank you very much!! I'm glad that I replaced the O-rings with Viton ones in my Deuce engine's HH...I get old gas every now & then, but I try to keep it below 10% total concentration with my WMO/UMO blends for my Deuce.
As Gimpy mentions, they are a huge PITA to mount/demount. I just cannot get mine to balance properly either...I have them on the fronts of my Deuce as a "Just In Case" reason, but when they need to be replaced I don't think I'll use run-flats again. They're difficult to remove from the truck...
LOL, YES, that was me (among others)...I'll never do THAT again!
The engine either won't start at all (like mine), or it will stumble & run terribly. Trust me, there's only one reason for that once you remove the IP: you are 180-degrees off. You MUST remove the forward valve cover &...
If the tires really are new, then here's the answer. :ditto:
The only other conceivable scenario I could fathom would be using the beadlocks for what they were intended for: to keep the beads seated while driving with very low tire pressures over uneven ground. If the tire pressures are very...
