I'm not sure what that looks like, but I don't think it would work on the LMTV. The latch mechanism that the door handle hooks to isn't very strong.
Do your doors have the factory pull-handles on them? (Above the latch handle and window crank, just below the window, in this picture.)
That makes sense. I couldn't tell from the pictures in Eastern Surplus's ad, and there was no description. A 500lb pull obviously isn't getting an LMTV anywhere.
They do make bigger ones though. I found a video on YouTube of a guy demonstrating using it as a winch. Some of the ratcheting...
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the terminology. What part is the "wheel facing"? Have a picture of a crack in one?
Have a part number or link to that stud tool?
The quotes in that other thread of yours, through Gemplers, are for the orange silicone seals, correct?
Thanks, I'll try Gemplers in the morning. It would be good to get the McMaster part number too.
As that other thread asked, if this is so difficult, how is everybody else replacing their o-rings? They're just reusing them?
At the top border of the reply box, there are buttons, one of which looks like a little picture frame with a tree in it, which is the "Insert Image" button.
I wasn't going to use corrugated metal, though. I would use flat sheet metal, maybe aluminum about as thick as used in a stop sign (1/8"?), or steel about half that thick. I think it would look better. I had seen a safari vehicle like this.
With a little careful engineering, you could...
I was thinking of doing something similar. You will need to add a way to strap the tube cage down. There are originally little strap buckles on the tubes to do this, though by this point most are gone or the straps are gone.
I was parked and had all the sides on my top rolled up once, without...
I was perusing all the stuff on Eastern Surplus, and came across this "basic issue" kit which includes a chain hoist. I don't ever remember seeing those in Army, but hey, do they work as a winch? Anyone use one that way...
Does anyone have a source or civilian part number for the o-rings in the wheels, or the little copper ring gaskets that seal the CTIS valves on there? I thought someone said once that McMaster had them, but I can't find them.
I've been running the ZeroStart in my truck (w/ 3116) for two years now. It works great. The install was the same as yours. Even in below zero temperatures, leaving it run overnight will make it start in the morning like it's summer. Even just letting it run for 30-60 minutes will let it...
Is it ok to crane a tire with NO RIM into the truck, by looping a strap through the hole around the bead? I just want to make sure it won't damage the bead.
Like this, but with NO RIM
The design (e.g. D-shaped rubber part with grease hole) is essentially the same across most/all uses, from a small commuter car to the biggest OTR trucks. I tried finding a CoTS replacement, but couldn't (there might be one out there still). I don't think the bushings S&S used were CoTS. They...
Yeah, I'll probably circle back around to them soon. What I've been waiting on is to see how the 3D printed handles held up. I've been using one of the 3D printed ones for about 6 months now (since I made this post), and it's held up fine. So that's a viable option for the thrifty people out...
