I think we're thinking the same thing. Are you saying that since we probably only need to use the holes marked in red, I'm free to cut away at the unmarked holes to get it to fit on the printer?
I only need to knock 0.2" minimum off, or something like 0.5-0.75" would be better. That looks about...
I have one of the hub covers that has been machined down, for use in setting up the hub shims. I figured I'd design a 3D printed variant, so that people weren't always having to buy/make/mail the metal kind.
I haven't printed one yet, but here's what I have so far. I'm going to do some work on...
It's a stupid accusation. There's no point entertaining it further. If you think I'm buying them and reselling them, I hope you spend endless amounts of time trying to figure out where I'm buying them from. Maybe in your search you will find some that actually fit, and I won't have to make them...
It means that the truck is designed to withstand a High Altitude ElectroMagnetic Pulse (HAEMP). One of the secondary methods of nuclear attack is to detonate the missile high in the atmosphere, not on the ground like in an attack designed for physical destruction. The resulting EMP is then able...
I'm already planning to make M1082 bushings... they're on "the list", but it's a long list.
I have an M1082, and while my bushings on it are still fine, I measured it once. From what I remember, the outside (part that fits in the hanger bracket) is the same as the LMTV, but the bar was just...
You're right, how could anyone else know what a grinder is? Loggers would have had to be using those trucks because they were all that was available, and I imagine they would continue to use them because they know and like them. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them.
What parts are...
LMTV swaybar is 2.0". M1082 (trailer) is smaller (1.67"?). The math is right on.
Your idea just won't work, that's why I'm discrediting it. If I thought it would work at all, I would have already ordered one to try it myself. You'll probably just think it's a lie since I'm bringing it up...
Oh, quit with the bravado, as if your opinions are beyond reproach.
If anything, you are proving my point exactly. By all measures, these are the best trucks the military has ever had, and then there are several very vocal people who disagree based on their "unquestionable" experience alone...
This gets talked about a lot. Here are some of my previous answers (I should really make a canned answer for this, to cut/paste)...

Rusty,
This is roughly what trying to put a 1.5"ID bushing on a 1.67"OD bar would look like, as far as the gap it creates. Not obvious from this picture is that now that upper stretched-out area is drastically oversized, because there was material for spanning from the hanger bracket to a...
I don't doubt that somewhere there is a commercial application with a bushing that fits, but this Gillam bushing is not it.
The formula for the circumference of a circle is pi*diameter. So a difference on the diameter will end up over 3x as big a gap when you put it on the bar. In this case...
It's right in the post on eBay that you linked. That's where I got it from. "Inner Diameter: 1 1/2""
"this front sway-bar system totally looks like the Gillig system"... All swaybar systems on everything look like this, so that's not really justification for anything. The parts the military...
I'm not personally familiar with the end-joining kits/machines, but one for rubber o-rings probably is not the same for silicone o-rings. Silicone is heat resistant, and bonds chemically, not like rubber which vulcanizes. So just check that the kind you have will work.
I tried the 1" shorter mount, in green. It can still get blocked by my hand at the top of the wheel, but I want to lower it more still so that it's roughly overlaying the "already wasted" view at the top of the air defroster. So a 1/2" shorter one is printing now.
Also in the pic, you can see...
I'm currently printing a 1" shorter version to try out. I also got some cool new OD green filament!
I was looking at the inclinometer, and it got me thinking... what is the tip-over angle of the LMTV? The inclinometer has it in the red >14°. Using the unloaded and loaded Center of Gravity (CG)...
