    THE JUSTIFIER Guntruck

This has actually been several years in the making, the truck itself has already had all the mechanical work done(brakes, engine, wheel bearings, wiring) it's just a matter of installing the winch and grill mounted 10 ton type mirriors and painting the chassis. I had been on the lookout for a early...

    THE JUSTIFIER Guntruck

Well folks, after several years of planning, loads of figuring and contact with several of the original crew,I will be starting a replicia of "The Justifier" as soon as the last couple parts arrive. I'll add more to the story behind The Justifier as time goes on ,but I'll post what I know here...

M39 series LDS 465-1A to Mack ENDT 673 repower

Well,It seems the 673 in the dump has the same problem as the other early production 673 I own, worn cam lobes!! This engine has always had a sharp rapping sound in the rear head/block area, definetly a tappet/cam lobe going bad. So,after some checking cam lobe lift with a dial indicator this...

    inaccurate oil pressure readings

After years and many trucks of dealing with this same problem, I scrounged enough air pressure gauges to convert all my MVs to direct reading oil pressure gauges. A lot more trustworthy and accurate in my opinion. Just a quick bit of info, all the 800 series trucks have this type oil pressure...

    Lubricity Additive Study Results

I actually use the Super Tech Outboard oil in the fuel tanks of my trucks, usually 1 gallon per tank,50 to1 or 78 to 1 gallon ratios depending on the truck used in. I have had good sucess with it so far.

    M816 predetonation

From what I can remember my M816 sounded exactly as you describe during the 3/4 upshift and especially noticeable when loaded. That massive drop in rpms (2100 to 1200) really taxes the power curve of the 250,especially toteing around 36,000 lbs. Even with new injectors, fully rebuilt injection...

5TH Gear Missing Teeth, Looking For A New Transmission

I had a similar incident happen to my deuce trans in 2005(?) on the way back from Aberdeen, except it lost a total of 34 teeth on 4 seperate gears. It appears the driver I had in the deuce shifted from 4th to 3rd on a downhill coast instead of 4th to 5th. All I can guess that happened was the...

M39 series LDS 465-1A to Mack ENDT 673 repower

Well, I managed to do a few more "adjustments " and refittings on the M51A1 dump in the last week. I converted the oil pressure gauge to a manual gauge with 2 sections of 1/4 in ID high pressure hose(5000 psi) and crimp on fittings with a Murphy Switchgauge for the gauge head. I used a model#...

    Recap on "cold weather starting"

I know at any temp below 40 deg F,my M816 just would not start without slaving/charging the batteries, and that was running 2 ea 8D size batteries. To my knowledge it never had a functioning "glow plug" in the intake untill I sold it, and the one time I actually used it,it didn't seem to work...

M39 series LDS 465-1A to Mack ENDT 673 repower

Well,I got a chance to pull the pump and check both springs for wear/distortion,they both seemed serviceable. The TM9-2320-260-34-2 section 15-19 did not show the upper relief valve in detail, although mine had a 1/8 inch hole drilled in the upper portion of the valve itself, I am not 100% sure...

M39 series LDS 465-1A to Mack ENDT 673 repower

Yes,you can swap engines from a Mack to a Multifuel,or from a Mack to a gasser,or from a Multi to a gasser, there is no issue with frame lengths on the older M39 series trucks. The only frame difference is the small cutout mentioned earlier in this thread, only associated with the Mack engine...

M39 series LDS 465-1A to Mack ENDT 673 repower

Well, I finally got a chance to test the dump out today, After a short drive to the fuel dump(station),I came home and fired up the backhoe and loaded a small amount of stumps, dirt and root scrap in the dump. It dumped ok,but it seemed to stutter a bit, like it was starving for oil or bypassing...

    M54 Multifuel Turbo Exhaust Pics

I was gonna say, that looks more like an early turbo off a 673 Mack. And yes, they do whistle a small amount, nothing compared to a C turbo off a LDT multi though. Here is a 673 Mack with the early turbo on it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRXxtU-tQVg
