    New from Willis, TX

Larry, welcome to the site. I confess that I don't know exactly where Willis is, but there are a bunch of us in the greater Austin area. Look up lonestar-mvpa.org for our club. We would love to have you come to a meeting. There are also chapters in San Antonio, and Houston. Scott

How To Wake-up a Mothballed CUCV?

It depends on how far you have to drive it to get it home. Hoses won't rot in a year, unless they were bad to start with. Belts, maybe. Diesel fuel won't go bad in a year, unless it was already contaminated. The tires may be old, and sitting in the sun they will tend to dry rot. I have some...

Did you find your parts? You can get grade 8 bolts at Homer Depot. If you can't find the sleeve, we can make one. I have a lathe. Scott

    Run do NOT walk!!

In regard to the weight limit, and proper licenses, at the time I did not know about the weight restrictions. I was in violation of the law in that regard. Law enforcement in OK and TX never gave us a second look. Now that I know the rules, I am planning on upgrading my driver license to...

    Run do NOT walk!!

Pulling the trailer with the modern diesels is no problem. The secret is to have good trailer brakes. I pulled my deuce from Norman, OK to Liberty Hill (outside of Austin) TX on an equipment delivery trailer. Rated for 17,000 lbs. load, gooseneck, tilt bed. Drove the deuce on, chained it very...

I wonder why they pulled all the m35a2s

The good news is, this will cause a small panic, and when they come back up, people will bid them up to outrageous prices. (Ask me how I know). By the way, velociT, there are several of us close to you. E-mail me at postgunsmithing@texas-skies.com, since I am not smart enough to send or...

    oil pump

Taking off the belt is a good idea. If the power steering pump is not turning, and you still get the whine, that sorta rules out the power steering pump. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? (We are grasping at straws, now.) Scott

    oil pump

Again, the oil pump being buried under 10 quarts of oil, and inside a running diesel engine, I think it would be hard to hear. The buzzing whine you describe sounds like a hydraulic pump of some sort. If your transmission checks out OK, check your power steering pump. They are famous for whining...

    oil pump

Is it making noise now? I'm thinking that if it's making noise, you wouldn't be able to hear it over the engine, anyway. Install a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and keep a close eye on it. Just my opinion. Scott

    5 TON Hater ........

When I read these posts, I am stunned at the small-minded people out there. I guess their lives are so insignificant, they feel they have to do things such as complain about their neighbor's vehicles. I am sympathetic to your plight, but I am also very happy with my decision to move to the...

    Tough Recovery in San Antonio

Mark, if you're referring to a personnel heater for the deuce, let me assure you, it's not really necessary in this part of the country. Scott

    New guy in Victoria, TX

Welcome to the club. It's been a while since I've been down to Victoria, so I don't recall how long the drive is. But if you ever get up to Austin, the Lone Star MVPA (lonestar-mvpa.org)meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month. If that's too far, there are clubs in Houston and San Antonio, also...

    texas rally anyone???

I'm for it, if it's close enough. It's a long drive from suburban NW Austin to Houston or Beaumont, especially in a noisy deuce, going 50 mph, and getting 10 mpg, if I'm lucky.:| Scott
