Found metal in my transfer case

Wow, is that how the military TM does it? Sounds like I need to stop and do some reading. From the position of the mounts it looks like it was lowered into place initially to install, but I assumed that was done before the cab and bed was placed on the truck. Never thought there would be a...

Found metal in my transfer case

I have no problem taking pictures and documenting what worked and didn't when I change the bearings. Glad to contribute, but would prefer to find a rebuilt/new t-case that I can install the same weekend after taking mine out. I guess at minimum, I want to have a list of parts I need to have on...

Found metal in my transfer case

"Obviously" may be a little strong. Lets just say no ball bearing joined the party at the bottom of the case. :) Rebuilding it is definitely high on the list and preferred so I know everything is good. Are all the bearings and seals available at Napa or equivalent, or will I need to find...

Found metal in my transfer case

"The answer I was looking for was that they throw in an extra bearing cage in every T-case, to knock off all the sharp edges from the gears." :) Sounds like this is a more common problem then I expected. Any luck finding a spare T-case or what the going price is for one? I assume I need...

Found metal in my transfer case

Uploaded a picture of the metal found in post 1. This is all the major pieces that came out. About the same mass (at most) in smaller pieces and dust in the form of slim around the magnet. Looks like at least three bearing cages.

Found metal in my transfer case

Well, I was changing all the fluids on my new GL purchased Deuce and had to wait/order the 9/16 pipe fitting for the transfer case drain plug. It came in last week and I proceeded to drain the case. First concern is that the case sounded pressurized when I removed the plug. I have had some...

Yep, my 1987 have duel brakes and thanks for asking the question. I have been looking for this manual and just saved off the above manual. :)

    New from Texas

Welcome to the site. Just bought my first M35A2C and titled it yesterday. Had zero problems and as soon as I get my title, I plan to register it under Texas Former Military Vehicle (FMV). Definitely worth looking into if you are going to keep it looking military. You definitely joined the...

Correct bumper markings for 7th Army Ordnance Battalion?

I may have to change the format for the driver side bumper per Texas FMV laws: Applicants may use the serial number as assigned to the vehicle by the armed forces as the license plate number. These characters must be a minimum of two inches in height, and applied to the vehicle in a design and...

Correct bumper markings for 7th Army Ordnance Battalion?

Titled the truck today. I need to paint the numbers on the bumpers and take a picture of it. Then return when I get my title in 2-3 weeks, so I can register it as a Former Military Vehicle. They didn't seem to have an issue with the above numbering format. They said they would just omit the...

Correct bumper markings for 7th Army Ordnance Battalion?

They were actually activated in 1952 through 1959. I have the Department of the Army record of them that a friend of his sent him dated 1961 describing the history of their company. I tried to post it but the PDF is just over the limit of the site. It is a very dry read noting where and...

Correct bumper markings for 7th Army Ordnance Battalion?

I am restoring a Deuce and would like to dedicate the markings to my Dad. He served in the 7th Army, 9th Ordnance Battalion, 57th Ordinance Group, Company B. This was the group that had the nuclear artillery (i.e., Atomic Annie and the like). I believe the bumper number would be something like...

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

Temperatures may also make a difference. Asphalt can get softer in high tempts. I have heard (but never seen) bikes kickstands sinking into asphalt on very hot days. Hot here is over 100 degrees.

    The $820 M109A3 Resurrection

Don't mean to hi jack, but is that a military trailer being used in the pictures? If so what is the model number?

    New Winch on deuce

That has to feel great. It would be so much fun driving around helping people out. Good PR for MVs as well.

    Lets see your DEUCE!

FYI, you left the driver zoned AC on in your Deuce. :) BTW, nice truck.

M35 transport from Fort Bliss Tx to north Jersey

... and half that mileage is just to get it across Texas. :) BTW, it is only 110 degrees in the shade, and I don't remember any shade on that side of Texas. :)

    A3 Crew Cab Build Starts

Toyota makes an electric back windshield where the entire back windshield rolls down. That would give you a lot of room to roll into the back over a bench seat and or front bed lip. They had this in their older full size trucks, if interested there may be one in a junk yard you could salvage...
