I do not think that you got screwed.
Was it a GL auction?
Any vehicle that I purchase at auction running of not is flatbeded to the shop. This is SOP.
If it has an engine you need to preview it or pay scrap price.
One truck that was bought as a runner had a bad radiator in it but we knew it...
This is the data plate off of a standard two axle flatbed tow truck. This truck only has a 10,000 lb deck capacity, 9100 lb load capacity, and is at the limit for a non CDL truck.
What are the Caltrans restrictions in your area?
It only looks like the westerly portion of 130 in district 4 allows limited truck traffic, max 30 KPRA. The portion in district 10 is not listed as a truck route.
If your road is that bad how do they pick up the trash, deliver construction materials, concrete, roll off dumpsters, furniture, appliances, do road work, will AAA come up there?
How about the fire department?
Your typical straight truck, two or three axle has a bed or box on it about 20 feet...
This question is for the OP
How often, and far, do you think that you would be moving it?
If you are not moving it a great distance or very often another option is to make friends with the local heavy tow or construction company and hire them to move it.
This is so far from the truth. The regulations that he will face are far less than those that a trucking company or even an owner operator faces.
All he will be required to do is get the correct license, insurance, registration and maintain the vehicle in a condition that it will pass a dot...
The definition of restorable and rust free varies greatly by geographic region. What we consider as unrestorable out here on the west coast would be considered a good start on the east coast.
The value of anything is subjective until you actually sell it. I have seen prices all across the board...
If you like the old truck you would be better off putting the body on a newer chassis and run it that way.
The non commercial class A or B is legally only for RV's according to the vehicle code and CHP.
Remember even though you are not using it commercially the CHP can pull you over at any...
The first thing to remember is that you are driving a truck and not a sports car.
The best way to describe it is that once the vehicle had reached operating temperature you accelerate at full throttle until you reach your desired speed. If you are not at full throttle the transmission can and...
Mad medic
I was thinking of putting the vehicle on the truck.
You are thinking about towing it on a multi axle equipment trailer.
I do like your idea of thinking outside the MV's and including civilian vehicles or COTS vehicles as the military calls them.
I see a large amount of military...
What was the GVW of that truck?
In order to get the 7 ton payload you will need at least a GVW of about 33,000 lb. even then it will be real tricky to get the axle weights correct.
In CA you need at least a class B for vehicle over 26,000 lb GVW.
To change the piston you have to remove the trans and disassemble it.
If you remove the trans, do not separate it from the torque converter.
What is your no load governed rpm?
You need to know this in order to correctly drive an allison equipped truck.
There are two problems with a lot of...
Where did you find the picture of the example?
I put dual air ride seats in my truck. I like to use the area between the seats for my cooler and I have a pocket along the back wall where I keep my paperwork. I also put a hook on the back wall of the cab to hang a small back pack
