    Deuce road tractor conversion

Yeah, noticed that. Think what I'm going to do about that is notch the angle-iron bracket to clear the bogey, and then weld a plate back into it with the right amount of offset to clear the bogey-plate. Will have to either drill holes to clear the bogey rivets, or drill out the rivets and...

Loading the 5th wheel for traction

    eek! really? beefcake.

Loading the 5th wheel for traction

Those 5th wheel plates have gotta weigh 7-800lbs by themselves, right? Removed one from an M931A2 over the weekend and wow that thing is heavy.

    LB20/M270A1 Lowboy Trailer Questions?

What size kingpins do the the M270A1 trailers have? 2" or 3.5"?

    Deuce road tractor conversion

Thanks a bunch! That's very helpful I'm using a tractor-plate off an M931A2 and think I'll duplicate the angle-iron mounts those trucks have so I can avoid having to drill holes in the top of of the frame, and that will also allow me to space the tractor-plate up above the rivets. Thanks again...

    dump truck with fifth wheel?

I did, thank you, and am planning on building something like that for our trucks. Just doing my homework, trying to figure out the best way to tackle this because it's not just a one-off project and I don't want to make the same mistake/s 4-5 times.

How did this project turn out?

    Deuce road tractor conversion

Nice work. Found this thread while searching for info about deuce tractors. Planning on adding a 5th wheel plate to mine, but haven't decided whether or not want to bob it. Wondering if anyone can tell me how far forward of the bogey the 5th wheel plate is located on an M48. Pulling all the...

    Wrecker Front Winch

Might try posting a want-ad in the classifieds section?

    m923A2 Hard Top Fit?

Might not be much you can do about that, but have you tried adjusting the door hinges? Might be able to scoot them up a bit and split the gap?

    California owners

Re-read that. There's no exemption for pre-94 trucks, and there's a good thread on here somewhere with a lot of helpful information on that subject. Quick search will turn it up.

    Wrecker Front Winch

Yeah, why is that? My M936A2 doesn't have a level winder on it and noticed that most of the newer trucks don't either. Why are you thinking you'd need to re-route the cable from front to back? It's not a straight shot, and it's not far off either, but enough that a few pulleys would need to be...

    M939 based het?

One of the HET's in Fontana went for $8800 last week! But then I read on here something about GL canceling all those sales? Think a cab-forward 5-ton would be rad and if I could score a good deal on a cab, I'd do it to one of my trucks. Would rather have something like that than an HET. Would be...

Can 2 m923 trucks without tarp & bows fit on one transport trailer?

Oh yeah, should have explained that better. Wasn't planning on building anything to support the truck in transit. Was thinking more along the lines of what you're suggesting m16ty, minus all the grease. Haven't had a chance to look at the tru-hitch 5th-wheel wrecker setups very closely, but...

Can 2 m923 trucks without tarp & bows fit on one transport trailer?

Maybe. Haven't see what I'm working with yet, but have got the fabrication end of things covered. No concerns there. Am sure you're right, but we're pretty good about making sure our stuff presents well. Just posted this over on pirate, which explains a little bit about our plans for this...

Can 2 m923 trucks without tarp & bows fit on one transport trailer?

Ah, yeah. Realize that it's not a proper step-deck but am pretty sure I can build something that will work without adding more than a couple hundred pounds. This is all just speculation though, haven't even seen one of these things in person before. Just seemed like it might be our best bet...

    Chrysler Defense HMMWV Prototype

Cool piece of history, but no wonder they didn't get the contract.

Can 2 m923 trucks without tarp & bows fit on one transport trailer?

Yeah, I know. Have to load-up on the step-deck. Should be okay length-wise and think we can keep the load just under 14ft if we put the ass-end up on the step-deck. Worst-case we have to take of the spare tire hoist and fold down the windshield on the truck up front. Big question is how the...

Legal Issues that could effect all MV Owners

mkay, good luck with that. But if we were all selling cookies or something for a fundraiser, wouldn't expect you to make very much money with that kind of sales-pitch.

Can 2 m923 trucks without tarp & bows fit on one transport trailer?

Barstow, but yeah. Hope it's in halfway decent shape. Think I'm going to have Robert Winslow haul it off-base for me and he was saying that with the axles pushed so far back on that thing, might be okay with two trucks on it, weight-wise. Guess we'll see. Now what to pull a load like that with...
