There is something special about having the original paint looking good on an MV.
I'm starting this project on my Mule, which has survived unmolested in its original paint since it came out of the Marines. The paint is in decent shape (as in not all chipped up), but oxidized. The test spots...
And yes, absolutely install a remote reservoir! You will NOT regret that.
There are several options for location, all work equally well. Personally, I like mine on the firewall on the drivers side. Easy to open the side flap to visually check fluid level (which you need to do often...
I owe you a callback from a while ago (sorry!), I'll give you a holler.
The local truck club, Lone Star MVPA, meets in the museum on Camp Mabry, third wednesday of each month at 7pm.
Cheers
There have been some done fairly recently, both large and small trucks.
Here is a 1009, which I think looks pretty darn good (and I'm something of a purist when it comes to proper MV colours. But not completely!). I don't recall which SS member this belongs to.
Cheers
A side note - if you open the drain valve on your M931 to drain the air, and it has a dirt dauber plug in it, you can, under just the right circumstances, accidentally hit your girlfriend from 25' away with a larva that squishes on impact.
A word of caution though - she will NOT think it's as...
This pinky-brown Goat is painted with Aervoe 24087 and black. You can see what the sun did to it in a couple of years.
The gun truck is painted with Gillespie 24087 and has also been out in the sun for several years.
I don't like to slag another man's product, so I'll let you look at the...
We are normally pretty popular at car shows because we let the kids get in the vehicles. NOT happening with most of your classic cars!
We did a charity event supporting the local chidrens shelter a couple of weeks ago. I took an M931 and my mule so they could compare.
Always good to support...
Yesterday was the most intense rain and wind I have been through since I weathered hurricanes in Corpus Christi. 6.5" of rain at my house with 60-70mph winds. My house is on high ground, and no wind damage, so all is well here. Haven't been out to the farm yet to check on damage there...
So that would explain why an M923 surrounded by MTVRs would be an F, even though it was in good shape. It was obsolescent, and would be turned in rather than repaired.
I did ask my Marine truck driver son about these markings, his response was that the embarkation folks painted that stuff on...
So, what does Condition Code F (or A, or E) actually mean?
I looked quickly through the MIL-STD 3003, PRES seems to have something to do with how the vehicle was "preserved" for shipment, so at a guess DRIVE ON/OFF means it was not all taped up, drained, etc. Obviously, I'll have to read...
On the off chance that it was a one-off, or a prototype, it might be wise to not permanently change or eradicate the traces of what might have been an interesting past. It would be a shame to do so, then in a year or two find an old picture of your vehicle with some neat stuff mounted!
Put...
This stuff of picking just one is NOT getting any easier!!
But... loyalty to a buddy trumps, so I'm going with mkcoen and his goat.
Besides that, I know what that goat looked like, and drove like, just a couple of months ago when we picked it up. I wrassled that recalcitrant, nothing but...
Looks good.
One more thing you might do- paint the flat top of your lenses black, then paint over that with white (to reflect sun heat, the black would absorb it). This keeps the sun from shining through the lens during the day, and makes the lights seem brighter. Makes a surprising...
