What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Any round 2 pin electronic flasher will work. Pick them up at auto parts stores for 12$ish... EL12 is the PN I have, and it says it supports 1-18 lamps, or something to that effect...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Switches fail. A failed switch with multiple contacts will undoubtedly end up in a short.... :D A 3PDT switch is probably gonna be more expensive than the VMs, and on top of that, I like all the info at a glance...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Bought a digital VM to mount/test, replacing the analog gauge.. Handles up to 120V, and was only a couple bucks.... Will be buying a couple more so I will have a VM for Batt/Gen 1, Batt/Gen2, and 24V 1+2, so I'll know the charging status of each battery/alt. Haven't perm mounted yet, but testing...

    Start/move without alternators

Umm.. what are you doing for belts? Kinda important to have power steering, water pump, etc... If it's just a couple of minutes, it shouldn't be too bad... I don't know what operates the oil pump, so I'd figure out what turns that BEFORE you do anything else... Don't need coolant pump if...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Apparently, voice to text thinks that seqway is used way more than segue.. What has the world come to?! Let's transition from Seqways to Six by Six.....

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

While I do enjoy an occasional romp around, ignoring the thread topic, methinks that a 2 page segway from the topic at hand may be a wee bit much... Can we get back on topic please?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

No such thing. There is however, a Special Service Vehicle, or SSV .. :D Nothing really special except a HO alternator, bare bones, rubber flooring, and 2 seats without a center fold down bench/console. (depending on how it's ordered).

    Cucv needed atlanta area

The mechanical fuel pump has a piece that likes to fall off when not put in properly... Put it in a nice tub of grease before you install it to help it stick in place.. Also, now might be a good time to put an inline diesel electric fuel pump, they will still flow if not on/failed, and will...

Alternator installed, tensioned, and working great. Now for generator 2. Its output is above 15 volts. Oh my.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

$165 for a supposedly 'new' one on amazon, but AFAIK they stopped making 'new' ones.. so.... also says it's OEM and has a picture of a delco-remy alt.. I have a suspicion it's a chinese clone, but we shall see.... The picture also incorrectly labelled the 'ground isolated' terminal, haha.. I...

    Fuel lines...

Lines are different for gas and diesel. You can very easily find lines that will have their lining eaten away by the diesel.... Make sure you use diesel rated lines... My local O'reilly auto, NAPA, etc has Goodyear diesel rated fuel line..

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Got my Alternator back from the rebuilder.. Holy crap that was fast.... Looks almost like new.. $180 including tax, a little steep, but they do amazing work... He said it was 'worn out', something about windings and brushes and other stuff I know not of, and the regulator failed. He replaced...

    GSA find M1028

I call it the GL tramp stamp.... Every one of my CUCVs have it...

    Yay! Charging issues!

It's all good.... Decided to pull the alternator anyway.. Took it to Oreilly... Dead as a doornail.... To rebuild I go! Luckily I have a real good rebuilding place that's local...

    Yay! Charging issues!

Seriously? No one has an idea why I have voltage at the Exciter for Gen 1, but the bulb won't illuminate in ignition¿ If I have power to the Exciter, and to the battery, and a ground, the alternator should be working.
