    Yay! Charging issues!

Okay, I have a fun one. Ever since I purchased my m1031, at high RPM, the Gen 1 and Gen 2 lights like to dance. They kind of alternate glowing on and off, but never full on. I figured that they were on their way out, or I had a bad ground. As I do with all new vehicles, I clean off any grounds...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Inside jokes are one of the best things about a shared experience/interest, IMO... Kinda like watching the rebooted Star Trek in the theatre, and hearing a bunch of guys see a red shirt come on screen and immediately start laughing, with my friend next to me who doesn't know what a red shirt...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I made ruts you could swim in, with my CUCV.. I could only imagine the devastation you'd make with a 900 series....

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

I'm going to guess it's the same reason why a member here had DOL call him and ask him why his deuce didn't have a DOT#, refuse to issue a plate, then demand he pay tonnage and get it inspected after he get a DOT#...... when he was supposed to have a collectors vehicle plate...... They don't...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

It was, up until I quoted NRS, Nevada Revised Statutes... :D

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

You have to look at the definition of a commercial vehicle though, it can't be a commercial vehicle unless it's being used in commerce (or carrying more than 16 passengers, usually)..... So, it's NOT a commercial vehicle as it does not meet the statutory definition of a commercial vehicle...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

Deuces are more expensive now. They're rarer, and 5 tons are being sold at a ridiculous rate... A lot of them less than 5K$... ****, I bought my M934 for ~$4600 with taxes/fees and that had 12k miles on it, but ~150 miles on a full rebuild @ Red River...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

I was quoting Nevada statutes....to help his Nevada issue....and saying that, similarly, their DOL/DMV/MVA might not know what they're doing, only doing it because they THINK they should be doing it... As far as WA goes, WSP and CVE already told DOL to shove it where the sun don't shine. :D I...

Nevada - 5 ton's license plates pulled by DMV

I would read the actual LAW and prepare for a fight. Here in WA, the DOL (The state version of DMV/MVA) is STILL giving bad information ref: GVWR and CDL requirements. A CDL is for COMMERCIAL purposes. My 5 ton is NOT a commercial vehicle because it does NOT meet the definition of a commercial...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I meant the physical length, ie coil it up, not the RF loss... :-p

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Why Yagi? Mobile would work better with an omnidirectional antenna, IMO.... I usually run LMR240 in my mobile installs, but I'm assuming you have some LMR400 laying around? :-p How are you going to handle the length difference when extended vs retracted?

M934A2 Camper/RV Build or Bringing Sasquatch to life...

I plan on removing the slideout portions in mine... Yeah, you lose some space, but having EVERYTHING accessible is worth it. I also plan on putting in a roof hatch for roof access. I too spent HOURS thinking of a layout that would work with it enclosed AND open, but because of the way the walls...

Given the temps, did you check for dihydrogen monoxide in the lines?

    PNW Info Thread!

Thank you for the info. I'm waiting to come back to my truck to find an 'invalid registration' ticket one of these days, by a cop who doesn't know what he's doing..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sg7aGF2XoA4

    PNW Info Thread!

Umm... A few issues with this.. 1. Restored license plates don't require tabs.. so, if you bring in a license plate without tabs, they can't tell you it doesn't fit that year provided that it's that SERIES 2. See above - As long as the plate matches that SERIES, Ie the group of years in which...

Buying a M939 at auction: What to look for and to be prepared to fix

More parts = more complexity = more things to go wrong. KISS Of course, if you turbo the 250 you're adding complexity as well.. :-p If the turbo fails on the mouse motor, you're #(%&#(&, if the turbo fails on the NHC250 ...oh..wait.. what turbo? :-p I will say that the engine is more of a...

    M813 straight piped

I drove my M934 from Bragg to Lewis (NC to WA). Even with earplugs, every time I stopped for a break, it'd take a good 10-20 mins to stop 'hearing' the engine... I'm gonna check clearances for mounting the muffler under the cab, and dump 90* to the ground, just past the air line bleeders...

Buying a M939 at auction: What to look for and to be prepared to fix

The NHC250 is a better, more reliable engine, IMO... Not to mention cost of maintenance and parts... You don't get that with an A2... It will be easier to start in the cold, but you're relying on a turbo for your power. It is slightly more efficient, but it's also more complicated. IMO, the...
