most likely is the crappy dimmer switch located in a crappy location, I cant tell you how many times I have seen wrres corroded right out of the end of the plug. they are not weather proof switches or connectors and mounted under your feet where dirt and water always reside.
the a-1s we had in Iraq would default to second gear as I remember but it might have been 3rd. I do remember when limp home they had no reverse. the complaints on the 5988-e's all said the vehicle had no reverse as the trucks never hardly left the FOB. nobody noticed the transmission never shifted.
I have around 15 k on mine since I got it last summer and it hasn't let me down a bit I have one slip yoke that didn't take grease right. Now I have to have the driveline rebuilt other wise I have had no issues other than service work. You stand a much better chance with an lmtv being ready to...
I really don't want to start anything about mine is better than yours. some of the short comings on a duce can be over come and some cant. You would be hard pressed to purchased a duce, bob it, add power steering ,and a modern diesel engine for 15k. The duce looks cool and sounds cooler with...
I have mine loaded with a service box full of tools. I run up and down the beach here in Nome supporting gold mining operations. I have put on 30 k on it in the last year with nothing more than lubing it and changing the oil. The crappy roads did kill a rod end on my drag link other wise fro the...
there is nothing wrong with the 3116. Hard core cat guys don't like it. because its not a sleeved engine, but neither was the 3208, also once a sleeved engine look how many are still running today. The mimesis of the 3116 is air in the fuel and a more complex tune up procedure. it was intended...
If the linings, or lack there of are causing the problem you will see the evidence on the rotors. other things cold be fasteners that you used could be too long or a bolt coming out because it didn't tighten down right. the first thing to do is crawl back under it and inspect all what you did...
I worked on one a few weeks ago. it looked just like a whitenberg top. it seemed to fit well but the oem windshield is removed, and the top has gasketed glass windshield with an annoying thick center post between the two sections. it will keep you dry and affords good head room I just didn't...
That likely wont happen if you were going to tow loads in high heat I might recommend it, but for cool climates it gets the oil up to operating temp faster.
The big difference between 24 volt and 12 volt is the higher voltage requires les amperage to do the same work. This usually means smaller wires, but for some reason the military still uses wires large enough to handle 6 volt electrical systems.
I'm no fan of electronic diesels but they do make me a lot of money I am quite happy with my 3116. that said I will take a c-7 over a 3126 any day as long as it doesn't have a dpf and scr on it. I imagine you are going to find the ride much better than the fruitliner, and top speed wont be much...
Coming from some one who has some hitch and trailer experience, I would recommend not to do this. you could fab up a class 3 receiver and use an equalizing hitch but as a load carrying I would not recommend it. your front end would be too light with out the equalizer and if you try to balance...
I use mine as a daily driver and service truck all the roads I operate on are dirt. the awd and ctis can be necessary to get in to some of my work sites. after a year I have had no major problems with mine. I however have the electronic free 3116 it has served me well. if you are operating most...
