How warm are these things? I'm in ND and I'm gonna use my deuce this winter to pull people out of the ditch (lots of southerners first winter :) $$$)
I'm not too worried about it being original as long as it's warm I know I probably need to find a winter front cover or I guess I could always...
I did consult my friend who is a ford tech, He said I had his support. But he doesnt know anything about our trucks so that's why I thought I'd come here. But really a mechanical engine would be better. It's silly to throw computers into a truck like this.
You sir have just stated EXACTLY what the other side of my head has been saying since I found the 6.0. DONT DOOO ITT!!!!!!!!! DT466 or 8.3 !!!!!!!
So what I'm saying is I hear you loud and clear and I am leaning your way (8.3), so everyone can calm down or delete this thread whatever they...
I dont think I'd be sacrificing any torque...... with this (or any engine swap) I'd still be keeping the T-case so still have super low gears if I wanted them.
And in reference to your dangerous speed thing... single circuit brakes at 55 arent all that safe either... should we all just stop...
It sounds like you have a nice truck, I didnt know you could run the 6.4 heads on the 6.0, I knew you could switch the 6.0 manifolds to the 6.4 tho
I'll be quoting comments I think need an answer. Sorry I dont know how to multi quote a few posts are coming.
I'll be back to address ya guys I'm out if town right now going this on my phone. I'll write you all tomorrow night. Done great points have been brought up. But some of you are sissies ;) be back in a bit.
haha Thanks boys, I own a 6.0, a 6.4 and a new 6.7 I know the faults of each you can find me on powerstrokenation.com also :)
I will be buying the engine OUT of the current truck and it will be getting the necessary upgrades (headstuds, egr delete egr cooler delete) and they will be done ...
Well I may have found a relatively cheap 6.0 ford out of an F-550 I think I'm gonna pull the trigger and try and fit it in the duece maybe later next year anyone have any ideas about exactly how stupid this idea may be?
its a 2 wheel drive transmission, it doesnt have the turbo, ficm, or...
I've always heard engines run great before they blow up haha but I think that usually has to do with the engine leaning out... I dont even know if diesels do that??
haha I'm not too worried about dealing with the ice house idea right now ... but we really do drive full size pickups on the ice... whats an f 150 weigh? chevy 1500? more than 3000 and with there weight less evenly distrubeted I think the trailer would work with absolutly no probs on the...
hHey joe I'm ordering my springs and box this week to do this, how much frame do you cut off ? and can you provide any measurements about where the axle ends up and the spring perches?
Wait, wait, wait, so to add to the confusion I have experienced (thought I had er figured out.) you can run a power take off from the transmission and the t case?
You have to set your ice house on the ice... it cant be up on the truck, and I dont think I'd push my luck so far as to drive the duece out on the ice haha that just seems like going to far.
But I agree I will have fun no matter what.
With a pto kit installed on this truck I could hypothetically change engines (with for sake of argument a 5.9 2wd cummins or dt 360) and still use the PTO to drive the winch yes?
ya I cant believe there arent any attatcments someone has come up with for the front and rear pinion. (I'm thinking like... a rotary snowblower geared way up so you move a little and the snow blower turns way more than it should need to move alot of snow.....
Just had an idea!!! mower!!!
