I bought an M813A1 w/winch at Drum this week and am curious about PTO options to paower a dump conversion. If possible I'd like to go with a electric or air operated clutch PTO and a direct drive pump. Which leads me to some questions and, yes I've used the search feature...
Does the...
Welcome aboard from 70 miles north. There is an active military vehicle collectors club chapter in your area, the NY-PENN MVCC HQ Co.
If you are interested, PM me and I'll shoot you the contact info. Membership is only $12/yr and is well worth it.

Preventive maintenance is the process of checking, adjusting and renewing components BEFORE they break or wear out.
The TMs for vehicles of the M44/M35 era were written with two major thoughts in mind; maintaining the vehicle so as to be able to operate it in an austere environment fo 60-90...
A long handled 3/4" ratchet and socket. If memory serves it needs a short extension.
I set mine a while back on one of my trucks that had 6,100 miles on a depot rebuild engine and it seems to have a little more valve noise now. Only a few of the valves need changing so I may be imagining...
Welcome!
If you go to the "RESOURCES" tab above, select "TECHNICAL MANUALS" and go to about the 6th page, download TM 9-2320-289-10 Operator's Manual and the -20, 20P, 34 and 34P manuals.
The -20 mechanical troubleshooting guide will address both your stalling and surging issues. The -20P is...
My understanding from talking to one DRMO manager and GL reps from two different regions is that if the property is still DRMO's the government pays shipping. If it has been transferred to GL then GL pays or reimburses for shipping.
Like others I've watched trucks go from the NYARNG to...
Good catch! Since you won't have much need for the heater, you can send it to me for the M813A1 I bought at Ft. Drum today.....

Due to the 15 minute "dynamic bidding" policy if you wait unit the last minute you'll take longer to get the thing over with. If you bid your max at 15 minutes before the auction ends you'll find out sooner if the first item is going over your budget and could move on.
I'd advise that you...
Run...RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!! It's too late for us but you can make it if you start before the fever takes hold!!
Good to have you here. Is it safe to presume we'll see you at the Aberdeen show?

As stated above the upper adjusters are for minor adjustments such as restoring pedal free travel so you don't push the pedal halfway to the floor before braking starts.
If the ruck pulls to the side on braking, brakes grab etc, do the major adjustment.
If you have not done a major adjustment...
We use a large heavy duty engine hoist with the boom through the passenger side door and a 1/2 ton chain fall to drop things like the transmission and transfer case.
The military issues 8-ton bottle jacks for an M35A2 and it will do anything you need to do.
In the shop we use a mix of 6-ton...
A padded 2' pipe wrench will work as a compressor wrench. Also, if you have a jig saw , 0r similar saw, you can make a field expedient pulley wrench from a chunk of plywood. Liberally douse the pulley threads with penetrating oil a bit before starting.
Loosen the two 9/16" bolts, hold the...
Nah, he's closer to John Tennis. He'd just have to get past the house without being shot....errr...seen
Besides, everything at DH's is under two feet of snow.
