I wouldn't get married to someone that didn't understand why I wanted to show up to the wedding in an MV. I definitely plan on getting buried in mine.
I'm not sure I follow you with the TMs being void. These rigs are 30 years old, lots of hands have been in the pot at this point ;)
I think if you are trying to squeeze more fuel economy out of it I would suggest some 31" all terrain tires and an NV4500 swap. You simply are going to lose efficiency putting power through a poorly geared, non-lockup, power robbing transmission. Of course for the money you will spend on that...
Agreed
Just be aware that with that gearing combination and 31's (which I presume you are running), you are pretty much right on the bottom side of the 6.2 sweet spot. Anything larger and you start to get into the chug zone.
Since you have 3.08's in your Blazer, I would stick with what you have. Adding an overdrive to that even with the stock 31" tires would put you into a useless power band unless you cruise at 90mph on flat land. Now if you decide to step up to 1 tons with deeper gears, then you probably have good...
You could probably just buy a civy Blazer with functioning A/C (may even luck out and get a 6.2 model) for less than that will cost. But hey go for it! I like to carry a generator with me at all times...
An engine builder may have better insight on this but the 6.2 has roller lifters so that isn't really a concern. I'm sure if you buy an API rated oil that is above what the 6.2 calls for, you technically meet the requirements then.
Personally, feed it a decent 15/40 oil like Rotella or even...
I'm sorry then for carrying on with my posts. I was going off of this which to me sounds like I go in to a GM dealer back in 86', order a new K30, then check the box for a Cummins and poof...one shows up on the car carrier like the rest of them. To me that is what a production vehicle goes...
I agree, you can buy an S-10 (along with a LUV) and Ranger with a diesel. You could back in the day (which is when stuff was generally cooler, also happened to fall on a Tuesday...) and you can still get them with a diesel (not in the US market). It exists, they are on Craigslist and Ebay not...
So over 25 years ago you spotted 3 trucks...that isn't exactly evidence they are full on production trucks. I'm pretty sure that with a Cummins as a much better option, these things would be floating around America like unemployed welfare rats. I mean how many people that are on the interweb...
I would love to see a C/K (or later R/V) style truck with a factory Cummins engine. Forget the order book propoganda, how about photos of one on the showroom floor (that means lots of bell bottoms and large mustaches in the photo), an OEM repair or wiring diagram referencing it, etc. Just...
That's is an interesting point! Diesel had a nice price inflation due to the low sulfur regs as well...certainly not winning the battle on the consumer end. The environment is cleaner but it would be nice is the gov't and fuel industry made fuel that actually didn't kill my engines.
Regardless...
That Olds 350DX really killed the entire roll out of light duty diesels in American spec cars. Mercedes never had an issue, it always comes back to the Detroit iron having crappy engines. Everything in the 80's was noisy and smelly, most were slow too. Ford had some serious issues moving on from...
Yeah, I get outside air from everywhere except where a piece of glass exists. Start going through all connections on the firewall with sealer. Open up your door panels and make sure the plastic barrier if it has one isn't ripped. These are 30 year old bare bone trucks. The nice thing is in the...
Why can't the owner suck it up and have it towed off base? Unless you are getting a smoking deal, I don't see how anyone could own a truck that doesn't start, have it parked on a base where no one can work on it, yet it needs to leave on a tow truck. Seems like a catch 22. If you stole it, then...
