Over two years ago I rewired my generator for 120/240v operation which at the time I disconnected the compressor wiring. I am installing a matching electric motor to get my compressor working again and need to wire up the contactor in the panel. Does anyone have a picture of where the wires go...
I think your truck looks good with the solid 383 IMO. The OEM paint scheme looks good but I think living the civy life, the solid 383 appeals to me the most.
Are those recentered M998 rims?
I think with the large quantity of people with block heaters, eliminating it probably is not the best course of action. Replace the o-ring and see what happens. If it still leaks, buy a different brand. They are not big money, you will be out your time and some antifreeze. I've had mine for 2.5...
I don't find my obese M1031 sluggish all things considered. I think if you want to retain as much driveability and don't want to run oversized heavy tires I personally would go to an NV4500 and keep the 4.56 gears. Gets you deep gears for utility but an overdrive on the highway. You could do...
The assembly needs to be marked so the yoke "should" be installed in the same manner as it was disassembled. Since this is a non slip driveshaft with no yoke on the axle end...probably not going to make a difference either way. Would I do it, yes. Would I lose sleep over it, no.
Now a nice...
Nope, that is the correct way for the TH400. I would also run the transmission through R and D a few times then return to P. Of course the best way would be to just roadtest it under normal driving conditions before doing this.
I don't think the pickup tube is a super tight fit but you should get some type of positive engagement.
A delay in shifting when placing the selector into D could be low fluid level, too low of engine rpm at idle, worn out clutches, incorrect fluid, or some type of internal valvebody issue...
What CUCV?
I would throw money at quality Spicer ujoints just as good maintenance and see if the problem goes away. If an M1009, I would start to look at the diff for any unusual wear and tear. Mounts are a good suggestion, could be throwing off operating angle of driveshaft.
Try another chain, I know Autozone by me rents tools for free with a deposit.
I would say that if it seized hard enough not to drive home or easily get the drum off you have serious issues with that corner. I would probably check parking brake cables, and wheel cylinder. I would highly...
Sledge hammer for the win!
Try backing off the adjuster and maybe even crack the bleeder to make sure it isn't hydraulically stuck on. Then start swinging...
I think you could replace the front pump seal without disassembly, pulling pump off of reservoir to replace large o-ring shouldn't be hard either. Once you get internal, I agree may as well just get a reman.
Also, you will need an SST (probably free rental at most autoparts stores) to remove...
Doesn't look too bad, probably had some rust issues judging by the fender cut outs. I would pay close attention to the wiring. The alternators look like something has been fudged on the B+ wires.
This one seems like a good match:

Not a bad deal at $265 plus $35 to ship.
This guy has a manual overload switch...
Awhile back I rewired my genset to 120/240 and put a standard NEMA L14-30R outlet officially taking the ol' M1031 from commercial grade to civilian duties. My welder is gone (M38inMaine hopefully keeping it busy) and the air compressor has been sitting unused due to the 3 phase 208v motor being...
IIRC, you will get engine braking in 2nd gear when the gear selector is in the 2 position. You WILL NOT get engine braking in 2nd gear when the selector is in D range. The difference is a one-way sprag brake is freewheeling in one direction versus an actual hydraulic brake holding the gear. I'm...
If it's not low on fluid, you more than likely need a transmission rebuild. Whatever you do, don't drive it like that. You may ruin some of the hard parts internally which will make your rebuild more expensive.
Nothing really special to a TH400 non-lockup converter. As long as all the fins are in good shape, the only serviceable part is the sprag bearing. Any good tranny shop could flush it for you.
