Find yourself an M923. It will be much easier and will be more functional.

I suggest you go for an M923 with 1100s. They are cheaper and you'll thank me later on the power. If you have to have the single tires, go for an A1...again cheaper.

Keeping the low mileage one may not be the answer. I'd drive both and consider other factors, as well. Have the transmissions serviced (or do it yourself)...see if there is any major metal in the transmission fluid. Pull a wheel or two to check the brakes and bearings. Check the transfer...

There is a governor on the firewall that could be bad. I had an M929 once with the same symptom and that was my problem.

I would not expect to run an M939 series truck at 65 MPH for any distance. They will do it, but they are not made to run that day in and day out. If you need that kind of speed, while towing equipment, I agree with WELDER SAM, think civvie. My $.02...

Personally, I would not settle for a tan cover if that is not what I wanted on my truck. You'll find one...and the GMA suggestion above is a good one.

I have replaced O rings on several M939A2 rims. However, I came across a wierd situation where the O rings in my 1989 M925A2 are not the same as those on my M928A2, or any other A2 that I have owned previously. I believe this rim takes a 1/2" by 20" O ring while my other trucks use a thinner O...

Your CTIS leak is most likely due to an O-ring failure. I have several M939A2s and have had several that had tires that leaked down over the years. All stopped leaking down once the O-rings were replaced. I just went through this on an M928A2 that has working CTIS. I suppose the CTIS valve...

Looks great, John. I love the look of the singles, and also like the higher road speed, but I agree, the 1100s definitely are better for pulling. Great looking rig!

PM DECODEME. He and I were talking about the CDL class he took where they also gave him the truck to test on. They literally went through it and told him...this is all you have to know. The price was reasonable as I remember, but I don't recall the exact price.

I wish you the best in your recovery. You have bigger beans than I do. That truck looks like it has been sitting for a while, like most of those trucks down there. I'd be worried about driving a truck that has been sitting on a several hundred mile shake down run...the first real trip it has...

I have used Memphis for parts many times over the last 10+ years. I have been mostly satisfied with their parts. However, once in a while, I have found that the parts they send will work, but they have to be modified.
