Tire shops that will install run flats on 395's / Hutchinson split rim

You and I have a completely different understanding of how runflats work, apparently. What you're aguing against is EXACTLY their purpose. You could drive on the runflat even with no tire (as long as you had a tire bead left to old it in place on the rim).

    lighted indicator display

I'm interested in learning more, yeah.

    lighted indicator display

Are you talking about the warning light panel in the top center of the dash?

Middle axle only use in rear

Are the computers actually programmed differently, or is there possibly just an extra pin/wire/line that doesn't get connected on an LMTV? They could be more similar than you assume.

    window lift regulator

He only asked if they were commonly needed (though without actually using a proper question mark). He didn't say he saw any posts about them.

    window lift regulator

I haven't personally seen a lot of people asking for them, but it does seem like the doors (and many of the parts that go with them) are often missing/broken/disassembled/scavenged-off-of when people get their trucks.

    no buzzer

It's also worth checking to see if the buzzer is actually bad first. I've been in a truck where a soldier hated the sound of it, and jammed his pocket knife in there to damage it. Mine is mostly broke, and only works sporadically.

    What are tubes behind cab?

I was watching the video below and noticed these tubes attached to the rear of the cab of an MTV. What are they? Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPFP0sTk8a8

Good source for U Joint fir M1088

The Neapco joints (listed in my spreadsheet, here in my signature) are the best I've found so far. High quality, made in the USA, and come with the safety tab locking plates to make sure they won't accidentally vibrate loose. Great stuff.

CAT mounts and slope thru drivetrain

If you read the engineering reports about the original driveshaft issues carefully, they talk about it in one of them. The reason the engine is tilted at an unusual angle is to allow the engine to keep pumping oil while meeting one of the design criteria that it needs to be able to ascend or...

    Starter issue next

The starter (or other things) can break a tooth off the ring gear on the flexplate, and then if the starter is reengaged at or near that broken tooth there will be nothing for the starter to grab on to. It's not super-common, but it can happen, especially if something (e.g. a broken part) gets...

Could someone explain tow bar differences?

Is adjustability an advantage for towing, or does that just make it fold up more compactly for storage?
  13. Awesomeness

Could someone explain tow bar differences?

Yes, all of those. What are the several models? Which ones fit? Are some of those names actually the same tow bar being called different things? At least as they apply to LMTV/FMTV. I just can't seem to find a concise explanation of them. For example, if someone could say:There are 3 main tow...

Could someone explain tow bar differences?

I hear a lot about the various tow bars, and see them for sale. I hear mentions that some are easier to use, some are more useful than others, some easier to store/collapse, etc. Could someone outline the differences, pro's and con's? Thanks!

First ride in truck today- Did not turn out good

People are way too caught up on his mention of the number "40PSI" in the first post, and not using their thinking caps. 40PSI is irrelevent... he had sufficient pressure, then low/no pressure [gauge reading] and a leak. He never even said it was cold at 40PSI, so it could have been at 40PSI...

    Battery Terminal Sourcing

On page D-50 of TM 9-2320-365-34-1 (section D-23) there is a detailed breakdown of one of the battery cables. I just happened across it while looking for something else. I assume the others are in there too. (And I know you in other posts you have been concerned about not having the right A1...

    Battery Terminal Sourcing

Maybe, maybe not. There is lots of beat to **** stuff out there, and lots of good used stuff too. On top of that, the military stuff tends to be pretty overkill/awesome, so trying to replicate it well can be difficult or expensive. For example, the battery cables are all cup soldered (solder...

So I can use the CO2 tank as a backup air source ?

Hmm, it would probably work in an emergency, but there are better options. My concerns with using CO2, versus something like an argon welding tank or compressed air, would be... 1.) In the tank, compressed CO2 is a liquid, and has to be boiled off. Depending on outside temperature and tank...

    M1079 check those hubs!

The 3 cool hubs are what I would expect, and the hot hub is definitely out of place. I don't think you could realistically heat these hubs enough to eat up that much tolerance. I double checked, and if you had a 1.000" thick steel part, after heating it 100°F, it would grow to 1.00072". That...

First ride in truck today- Did not turn out good

40PSI is a perfectly acceptable oil pressure at a low idle, still cool after just having started up. 40PSI is plenty of pressure to lubricate everything, and is not severe enough to be indicative of anything wrong with the oil pump or there being diesel in the oil. Yes, as the oil heats it...
