UPDATE!!!! Since the M52 was a w/winch truck,and I had a spare 5 ton winch,I went ahead and installed it last night.

I had a little time yesterday evening to snap a few pics of the truck all cleaned up and running.

I say axle swap,It looks as if the whole rear suspention has been swapped for a Hendrickson walking beam type of suspention,the front may be just a dead axle vs a powered one. just my 2 cents
