    Well the light came on in my little brain and I have no problem now. see pics. I unhooked the seat part and moved the seat to the holes in the bed. aua That is why the seat part unhooks and there is holes in the bed!!!!aua

    They are dump seats, they are made a lot different then cargo seats and the P/N are for a dump.

    I picked up a set of NOS troop seats for the M929 dump truck and when the seats are up they work fine but if you try to fold the down the support legs or to short and if you try to use the holes in the side of bed they are to long for the seats to set level.     M923 transfer case handle shorting out

    I have not seen the shorted wires, but your air release for the transfer case shiftier may not be working right. If you drain the air out of the truck it should shift back into high.

    I have driven a M936A2 and they will go over 53mph, Like you said you may have a filter problem.

    I think the A2's came out without the big filter, over in the sand box they way to much problems with the little finline ilter pluging up. So they did a work order and added the big filter back to the trucks. I ordered one of the mounts that 5tonman1971 has.

    You can get it from some retailers like Erik's' http://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/index.html You may need to check the trouble shooting in the TM's, you may just have a grounding or wire problem.

    You should see around 27-28.5volts coming out of the Alt. Check the voltage on the batteries with the truck off, they should read about 12 volts. If you have 27-28.5 coming out of the Alt.     You are over charging as said or your batteries have gone bad and shorted some cells. I would check the voltage coming out of the alt.
