MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

Will do. Taking a break from work on it for Thanksgiving. House full of company for the holiday. Fixing issues uncovered during beta testing by some beta testers. Added a data logging feature to capture historical parameters, Min, Max Average of each as well as total generator run time...

    synchronizer for MEP-803A

That was my solution at home except I utilize a 5K UPS (pure sine) coupled with my 17.7 KW solar battery bank. Picked up a couple of 5K UPS's for a song a few years back so the 2nd one is a backup. APC Matrix 5000's. 5K is more that adequate for running essentials during an outage for us. It's...

    Mep-804a power output problems

Do you really mean K1 or possibly K15 or K16 or some other relay?

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

It seems they aren't needed now. According to profo in post #23 the 831 is J609B compliant and the Northern Tools 4.5K is a direct bolt up. Thank you kindly for the offer though.

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

profo, A few pics would be awesome!

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

I'd be game but before we go down that road we need to verify that the engine is J609B compatible. Need someone to verify the bolt circle diameter on the 831 as well as the output shaft dimensions.

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

According to the TM the PMA provides 32-50 VAC to the Battery Charger. Sending 120 VAC into it would probably let the magic "white smoke" out of it.

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

Great info. I agree it's looking like a J609B bolt pattern. Any chance you can measure the distance from the mounting surface on the engine to the beginning of the shaft taper and also from the mounting surface on the engine to the end of the shaft? Also can you measure the bolt circle diameter...

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

Before we get too excited we need to verify if the 831's engine is a J609A, J609B or some other mounting pattern and shaft setup.

    MEP-831A - Generator Head Swap?

One easy way is with my governor controller. I can easily change the firmware to make the 831 run at the correct RPM based on the frequency output of the new gen head instead of the frequency output of the PMA. Simple firmware change.

MEP-803a - Field Flash Grinding Noise

Just checked. I get 7.5 vdc at A1-6 with S1 in Start position. Guy did indicate the voltage out of R14 will be less than 24 volts, a change from what he posted earlier in the thread.

MEP-803a - Field Flash Grinding Noise

Just checked using my 802. I get 8.5 VDC while holding S1 in the START position. Do you get any HZ or AC voltage reading on the panel meters with S1 in the START position? Is S6 set correctly?

MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

On demand start systems such as an Automatic Transfer Switch, charge controllers, etc can command it to start/stop using a 2 wire interface. A basic contact closure on the 2 wire interface commands to set to start. Opening the remote contact closure will cause the set to shut down. One could...

MEP-802/803/831 Generator Control & Parameter Monitor by WIFI Demo

Beta testing uncovered a few areas needing improvement. Thank you Beta testers! Installation & Users Manual updated to facilitate installation, wire harness changes, firmware improvements, & a PCB correction to fix a PCB routing error. New PCB's almost completed fab to roll in design updates...

    MEP-831a Troubleshooting

Sounds like unit A may have a bad controller if adjusting Stability & Gain don't do anything. The VAC across terminals A & B on the controller should be ~176 VAC, or approximately 254 Hz (3050 rpm) at no load when adjusted properly. Correct, my controllers have no adjustments. Just install...

    Mep 803a Fuel Issue

You might want to disconnect the outlet from the fuel pump and see what the flow is like. Did you replace the filter on the inlet to the pump? It may be clogged.

    Need Parts Source: MEP 831a

I have replacements for the SLC100 in stock. I also have a new SLC100 controller from Governors America Corp. Shoot me a PM if interested in either.

    MEP-831a Troubleshooting

K12 LED on indicates the 831's fault system detected a fault and removed power from the Governor Controller and hence the actuator resulting in low RPM. Without power to the actuator the voltage at H-J will be 0 VDC. Resetting the power switch clears the fault restoring power to the Governor...

    MEP-831a Troubleshooting

When it's at a low RPM and won't respond to a STOP is the LED in the K12 relay illuminated? When illuminated it indicates there is a Fault and power has been removed from the A5 Governor Controller. When this happens using the E-Stop or Run/STOP switch will have no affect on shutting down the...
