I've got a similar situation with a fill plug on my rear differential. I'm not ready to tackle it yet, but my plan was to try two things: 1. Wrap some thin aluminum around my 1/2" drive extension and see if that'll snug it up enough to turn, or... 2. Find a star-drive bit that I can hammer...

Hey did you get out allright? I felt bad after I left, like I could have done more to be helpful. Unfortunately the genny I brought would not start, so i didn't have the ability to use the compressor either. Mine does have some surface rust on the front bumper and one fender. I'll work on it...

I know the truck is from 1972 and a plate on the dash said it was refurbed in 1987. Where do I find out the year of the engine, though? And I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure what an FDC is. :confused:
