If your existing filters are complete, you can get the elements from several of the venders. You can also get the elements from a truck supply house but they do not always include the gasket. The only advantage of the spin on that I can see is they are easier to change but is it worth the cost?
One thing that I have learned over the years is that on old vehicles you have to do a complete brake job and replace everything including the shoes, wheel cylinders and brake hoses.
Honing the wheel cylinders can result in each wheel cylinder having a slightly different diameter and pressure...
My original idea on mounting the M146 to my truck chassis was to mount it like a standard bed. This was due the insane rigidity of my 15 tons chassis. We abandoned this idea due to the amount of fabrication involved.
The standard military 2 1/2 and 5 ton long wheel basis chassis flex more than...
The answer depends on the shop. A car shop probably would pass. A truck shop would lift the hood and realize it is a mechanical Diesel engine coupled to an Allison, the hardest part would be the 24volt electrical,
If you clicked on the link the OP posted you would find out that it is for a...
Cruise controls are very common on modern 18 wheelers.
Adding, if it is not already there, cruise control to a modern truck with an electronic engine can be as simple as plugging a switch into the wiring harness.

That is true, and I thought the same thing, but the reality is most of my trips are less than a 100 miles round trip and the CC would be useless. It would be nice for 350 mile run up north but I have not even tried to figure out hot to install it.
Running the truck at a temperature that is so low that it does not register on the temperature gauge can lead to lubrication issues do to the thick oil. The trucks will start when it is cold but it is not great on them. A block heater would help. The winter front is a needed item.
We actually...
If you ground them to a bolt make sure the metal is clean and there is a direct clean ground path back to the battery. Make sure all of the ground straps are there. LED's tend to be more suspect able to ground issues due to the significantly reduced amperage that can not jump a questionable...
It is an interesting idea. I had originally planned on doing this with my truck. It will be a lot of work to mount the box on the frame. The truck frame would have to be lengthened. The box does not have rails on the bottom and they would have to be added. The problem is that when adding the...
CARB is working to raise the low milage exemption to 5,000 miles per year. This is good news for people with vehicles that are not old enough to be historic or do not want to go historic.
