A couple of notes; you don't need to disconnect the batteries when charging with a 12-volt charger and to prolong the life of your battery maintainer, add a double pole double throw (DPDT) switch in line with the wires going to the batteries so that it can be switched off (=isolated) when not...
Of course I had to take one apart.:-)
It is basically a coil, a relay (vibrator) and several capacitors. I'm sure that it could be repaired by replacing the faulty part(s), but it would be far less expensive/troublesome to get a new take-off unit. The spark plug should be gapped at 0.1 inches...
The yellow-top is a deep cycle type and is not suitable as a starting battery. The blue-top is a dual purpose, but when features are compounded into one, compromises are made. Go with the red-top and compared to the 6TL (Hawker Armasafe nowadays) you only sacrifice reserve capacity.
The "clogged air cleaner" gauge by the steering wheel column is actually a vacumm gauge maxing out (showing red) at about 20 inches of water.
If you want a more accurate indication, install a Magnehelic type gauge in the same air line and measure the result for a before and after wash. The...
By mounting a matched set of tires, by year and wear and also readjusting the brake shoes, which were dragging slightly on the driver's side, we got rid of the shimmy.
It was good meeting you too Adam, guess you carry that towbar like most of us keep a pocket knife handy. :-)
Yeah and of course, we appreciated your help.
The man ("Gabriel" (?) on this site) did not return before we left. For a moment I thought that I had brought along a spare oil filter with...
The in-line tool oiler works on the same principle as adding oil to the back (large cylinder) of the airpak, the oil mixes with the air. The large cylinder acts as a reservoir (like the in-line tool oiler).
Adding oil at the "front" of the unit makes sense, but then you'd need an actual in-line...
You are right, I do need to get out more. I have let myself run down lately and that's not a good thing.
Adrian only had paperwork ready for the pick-up (3 day limit) from the DMV and the truck will need some maintenance, like the alternator and the shimmy problem, so we'll be busy around home...
Here is a better picture of the piece, Ron. They had an Abrams in the shop too and one of the M89 (?) monster retrievers moved around with an impressive roar...loved it.
Arrived home about two hours ago and Adrian is happy, although we had a few small problems.
We ran into Adam (Ferro) while picking up the M35, he was helping a friend get an M109 and an M35 home and in the process ended up helping us as well. The brakes needed bleeding on Adrian's truck, but we...
For temperature switching, try "Klixon" on ebay. These little thermostat switches come in all temps and opens on increasing or decreasing temps, read the spec sheets.
Usually rated 5 or 10 amps, they can be used in conjunction with a relay to power any load.
As far as duct work, yeah, I was...
Short notice, will be leaving in a couple of hours heading for Eastover, SC to help Adrian get his first M35 home.
It "starts and runs" according to GL, so we'll see, loading lots of tools and supplies. Don't know the details of the sale, but he got all necessary papers from DMV yesterday for...
Use air tool or hydraulic oil, both low viscosity oils (about equivalent to engine 10W oil), easily mixed up by the air currents to lube the valves within the airpak...
Don't forget to check the PS mag section, often covers the service procedures from a very practial point of view.

Belive me, Mike knows, I have bugged him and Chris for years and finally asked them to disable the "Comment" section. Finally Mike disabled the entire PS section, so I can no longer manage it (including removing the spam, which I did for years and they number in the thousands).
Somehow, though...
