    Mep002 12v conversion

Don't forget also needing 12V glow plugs to replace the 24V glow plugs, and rewiring the grid heater to run on 12V

    Generator suggestion

Given your location, the first thing you do is find a different source of heat, running a generator to supply electricity to convert back into heat is a terribly inefficient use of fuel. I don't know what size electric heater you have, however I can tell you my elderly mother lives in a fairly...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

This heater had its hour meter disconnected, so I don't know actual hours, but based upon cosmetic condition when I bought it, I suspect it was relatively low use. Though being in Louisiana with high humidity anything is prone to rusting.

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Here is a photo of the back side of the circuit board, pay particular attention to the traces in the upper right corner, the corrosion around the screw hole, etc.

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

I will try to get back to that project and post some tomorrow, I had planned to take some but got side tracked when I saw a soldering iron was needed for full disassembly.

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

After partly dissecting my old temperature control thermostat (the one with flat head only screws on the terminal strip not the new style one with the combo Phillips / flat screws). I am not impressed with its construction, the circuit board looks like something from a roll your own board...

    MEP003a Unstable Voltage

The cheapest tool to measure output frequency (and voltage) is likely a Kill-A-Watt P-4400, under $20 on Amazon, etc.

    MEP-002a LED Light Flicker

This may just be due to the inherent nature of small generators having a less than perfect sine wave output. Utility generators generate power at thousands of volts for distribution then use transformers to lower the voltage along the way to our homes, ending up at 120/240VAC for residential...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Escobar, do you mean the circuit breaker that provides power to your outlet, or the safety reset button on the K8 relay on H82? On a side point I was working on my H82 today also, it had developed a fault so that when the thermostat reached set point to switch heat on or off, the heat control /...

    MEP-002a LED Light Flicker

What sort of aftermarket voltage regulator did you use?

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

Thanks will do as soon as it gets a bit warmer here since it is working now. p.s. I was referring to the tripped reset indicator light on my H82, the bulb on mine is broken

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

On a side topic does anyone recognize this disconnected black wire dangling in front of the air return on my H82? My heater seems to work ok, so I assume it is not too important, perhaps the disconnected hour meter, per the manual instructions. Also mine is now has a relay toggle on and off...

Its cold outside lets talk Heaters, H81, H82, H83, etc.

While we are on this topic, does anyone know the specs for the pilot light bulb, mine is broken, is it 120VAC?

    Source for non-MEP generator parts?

You might try Planopower I have bought Honda generator parts from them before, but it has been a few years.

    Reset info

You have left out the condition where an hour meter dies and is replaced by a new one, but the engine is not serviced.

    Impact of Frequency Fluctuations

This topic has came up over on the Smokstak generator board and it seems that some people have experienced problem from frequency regulation even being just slightly off the 60 hz standard. Most commonly they seems to happen in devices with relatively simple electronics. A couple of cases that...

    Mep-016d questions

There is a reconnection switch inside the control cabinet that must be turned to the 120V only position to get 120V only output. It is in the back right of the control box ones you swing the front panel down. Do not turn switch while the engine is running. As to the voltage on the meter it is...

Best Place to Buy MEP-003 or MEP-803

    Consider buying a 5KW MEP-002a and a $150 window air conditioner.
