Can I drain all the coolant out from the petcock on the radiator?

No, not all coolant will drain from the radiator. If the drain on the right side of the engine is that clogged, I'd seriously consider reverse flushing. If you have a heater, it will have to be drained also.

    4A084 engine info?

Looked over the wiring diagram this morning and what is stated above about the oil pressure switch is not entirely correct. The relay, which is controlled by the oil pressure switch is energized via a diode during cranking at which time the oil pressure switch action is bypassed. If there is no...

    Generic relay questions (24V-12V)

THIS is a relay (as Crocodile Dundy would say). The 25 amp relays I have installed for turn signals and head lights on the 8x8 (image #1). Makes you wonder where they compromise when producing commercial relays... The switching action you are looking for is SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) as...

any pics of fuel heater on 809's?

Hmm...can't see the oil pan shroud. Custom made my battery heater since chances of find one for the m656/xm757 is nearly zero (the coolant connections are both to the side). When using the heater, consider putting a time limit on it. The batteries could get pretty hot and 75-80°F is ideal. The...

New Style Air Brake Switch issue. Air Pack stuck?

Take a look at this picture, the "breather" line must vent after each use. Open it and try pumping the brakes. Second image shows where the new stop light switch is supposed to be connected. You didn't put it in the vent line did you?

Scrapping the M108?? Am I Crazy?

Bill (milkman?) perhaps. By using the hydraulics and multiple use of controls, like switch outrigger controls to other functions after vehicle is leveled, an earth boring attachment can be used for example. More pictures: http://www.mayapplebrandstedt.com/maybrand4b.HTML

Scrapping the M108?? Am I Crazy?

Yes, the outriggers are by themselves very useful. I have never carried a jack in the deuce, for example. The hydraulic outriggers will easily lift the entire vehicle and by blocking the wheels, the headroom below it can be increased by a foot or more for working. They have extracted my truck...

    4A084 engine info?

Thanks Kenny, the generator runs good, just that little problem starting it and that is a new development, like I said, probably the fuel pump. Below are two pages from the troubleshooting procedure as per TM.

    4A084 engine info?

Well, at least mine has an oil pressure gauge (as well as the oil pressure switch). You may want to check the resistance to case/ground. The NC should read zero ohms when the engine is not running and the NO infinity. Those are the terminal markings on the switch, if that wasn't clear.

Scrapping the M108?? Am I Crazy?

6t/m refers to lifting capacity; 6 tons one meter from the pedestal, 3 tons two meters from the pedestal, 1.5 tons four meters from the pedestal and so on. Joel's is probably close to a 10t/m crane and mine is about 8t/m. Image shows the diagram for a crane similar to mine.

Scrapping the M108?? Am I Crazy?

So you are itching for something new and exciting. :-) Mounting the crane is not really difficult, but I wouldn't recommend a heavy model like Joel's, which would require a shorter bed and reinforcement of the frame. I can hardly imagine my deuce without the HIAB...mounting it on a trailer is...

    M35A2 Advice

The "sensor" you refer to is probably a vent. There was a modification suggested to separate the vents from the fuel tank and the brake system and this could be the result (ca 1983). Steel Soldiers :: Military Vehicles Supersite

What does the low oil pressure switch (to the left in the image below) act on?

    M35A3 Starter Relay

Red top Optimas will be fine. They only have one half of the reserve capacity of the military spec ones, that's the basic difference. The typical current draw for the starter at 24 volts is 250 to 300 amps.

    4A084 engine info?

Eric, when you say "no spark", do you mean that it actually doesn't have a spark or just isn't starting? Mine has developed a starting problem, but a couple of squirts of starting fluid gets it going. I suspect that the fuel pump isn't doing its job at low cranking rpm, because it runs...

You are welcome... It's a "been there, done that" sort of case, I have learned over the years the hard way too. :-)

    Starter Issue. Need help!

About hitting the starter, yes, you may have wiggled the other connections in the process. Check all of them! Sorry about the battery...the way the batteries are charged in series (and used), make sure they are both the same size/capacity when getting a replacement.

    Starter Issue. Need help!

Following up on the above post, the military is very precise in specifying how the connections are supposed to be, including the correct plating of the hardware to minimize galvanic action, or corrosion. The battery clamps are made a little different for the positive and the negative terminals...
