    Unbalanced brake drums

On a 1008 parts truck I bought (put the axles on 1009) I had bent hubs on the front and on the back the drums wobbled on the rear hubs because of bent wheel studs. I put new hubs on front and removed the drums and went disc with new studs and now I have no problems. I am pretty sure GL picked...

    Bb's in tires?

I second the centramatics, I use them also. I still balance the tires. My centramatics worked when my tires still needed 9 to 11 oz. of weight on all 4. Only a slight vibration at 65 before balance. zero vibration after. With out the centramatics and no balance I could not drive over 55.

    S-280 air conditioning

9000 would be plenty. If you are going to paint, consider this: http://www.ceramicadditive.com/insulating-paint-additive.html Not expensive, I plan to do my rv someday. It worked well for a friend.

    Bb's in tires?

Add a fender washer or two between the kingpin spring and cap, make sure your plastic caps are not in a bunch of pieces. Death wobble is a kingpin, axle u-joint binding, or bent hub ( I had bent hubs). 40 oz. is not enough to cause bad death wobble. You would feel that at 60 mph as a slight...

What all do I need to install a cruise control kit on a CUCV?

Not sure if either of these links help you any. I plan to get the speedometer drive motor to go with my 4l80e trans. I probably won't install cruise. I have the DS1 tach interface from them to drive the dash tach and it works well...

Possibly buying a M1008 this week

bolts were for antennas, at that price the truck is a good deal.

    S-280 air conditioning

It does depend somewhat on what you plan to put in it. You have to consider the internal heat load, external temp and the solar gain (how much the sun warms it up) which is the biggest problem. For solar gain you could also try painting it with the ceramic additive. supposed to make a huge...

    Another not starting post.

When you take the glow plugs out, it removes the compression from the engine. Making it easier on the starter and batteries. It will also allow you to test for compression in each cylinder. Just a finger test to see that the cylinder has some compression. You can test with a compression test...

    Another not starting post.

When you posted you were going to swap it in the morning I thought you were talking about the fuel pump. Not the whole truck. At least the guy you bought it from is standing behind his sale. Not something many would do.

    Another not starting post.

It would be pretty bad luck to get a bad one but it happens. Are you sure the plunger is in the block and it is working. I would think something pretty major would have to happen internally for the cam not to work the plunger but I suppose it could happen and the motor still turn over with...

I think that goes to the high idle solenoid. With the new pump, are you getting fuel pressure leaving the pump?

    CUCV Do's & Dont's

I think either fluid works but I believe the quantity is off. I don't think a 205 will hold 5 qts. I have gear oil in mine and can only get 2 qts. in it. It is clocked up as high as it will go, but I don't think there is any way to get 5 qts. in mine.

    Intermittent wiper upgrade?????

I did the same tilt column change. My wipers worked on high for a while and quit last week. The only changes is the intermittent module at the bottom of the steering column and the switch I the steering column. A salvaged my parts form a suburban. The module may be bad and now I think my...

    Another engine noise post

I have noticed that my truck will get slightly louder as the air filter gets dirty. Somehow the restricted airflow makes the low pitch drone of the engine louder. It is not a huge difference, just enough to notice.

    CUCV with NP205 transfer cases

I am not familiar with NV4500 options. I would never go back to a standard for an off road vehicle. I have a jeep that is a 5 speed and when you get into technical off road it is a workout. A lot of people like the clutch but I am not a fan of it. I can gas and brake at the same time with an...
