Got the last wire cut. Glad I have this incredible amount of excess 16 AWG wire left! [/sarcasm]. Still, I didn't run out, so there's something to be said for measure twice, cut once. I did catch two or three measuring mistakes by measuring twice that otherwise would have cost me big in having...
What are the other radios you use around the farm? As well, do you have any licenses from the FCC that grant you ability to use more than CB and FRS? Give us some of these details so that we might be able to point you toward something that might work for you.
+1 to this one. I haven't had mine blow off, but its had a massive leak there three times, and I've never even left my driveway. One can only tighten this hose clamp so many times before there's nothing left to tighten... I have new hose on-hand. Just wanting to finish the wiring before I...
Sitting in my driveway, working on the wiring for my TCM. If I'm really lucky, I'll be fishing my wiring harness through conduit that day and then terminating the ends, which means TEST DRIVE....but I don't think my conduit will arrive before Wednesday or Thursday...
Thank you. My life would be hopeless without those labels. Having 20 loose wires that all look the same without any labels? I don't want to think about it! Now, I do have to say that I love the military wire identification system more than any other. There's zero doubt about where a wire...
Living up to my name last night. Almost everything is cut. Just ran out of daylight and needed one more measurement before cutting the last long wire.
Edit: These are just my notes for myself when I continue working on it this weekend: X-Fer Case Lock Light, Ground to Shunt, Fan Cutout...
Unless you need to measure the fuel pressure with your STE/ICE tool. Then it's pretty great, I'd think. For driving a HMMWV? Put a plug there if it leaks. Otherwise, forget about it.
You see, I've looked at my Luverne brush guard and thought about that, but I've been worried I'd mangle something. I do use it to hold all of my tools and small parts while I'm working on my HMMWV. That grate is really, really nice. As well, the large square cut-out for each headlight...
I just stuck with the direct drive and used a soldier B to tighten the bolts while soldier A held the starter... I do know there were past discussions about some models of gear reductions starters not holding up to actual use. If anyone does pull through with one that actually lasts, I'd love...
Just another stop on the pilgrimage trail. Start in Florida and drive up the coast with a large trailer to buy every part you could ever want for a HMMWV for not a lot of cash...
I watched this happen in-person. A local was showing me his HMMWV and I asked him how the ratcheting mechanism worked. It was going very well, then suddenly wasn't...and we tried a little harder. ...then we both felt real bad when we realized that the retaining pin was now a really neat...
Just throwing my hat in the ring...I also want to hear more about what you think of this HMMWV once you pick it up. I've heard so many mixed opinions on these things, but I don't think we've received a report back directly from an actual owner. Either they're so proud of them that they go out...
Yes, yes I did! The hole drilled is 2 3/8". Had to buy a bimetal hole saw just for this one job, then file it down once cut. I also used the factory grommet. I can't recall the number off the top of my head, but I can say that I only found it in the parts manual for the ECV (I think that is a...
Bleeding the system will magically fix your problem [if you didn't also damage the pump from letting it run partially dry]. After doing work on the cooling fan clutch in my HMMWV, I had a pretty sizeable air pocket in my system. The power steering would squeal, was heavy-handed, and I'm sure...
Does it have the diverter valve assembly installed near your right knee labeled "VENT" and "FORD"? If it does, I think it's safe to assume that you have it all there (then again, I'd inspect for any open line prior to actually water fording). If it doesn't, the system is for-sure not complete...
These guys nailed the big differences. There's a few subtleties that are scattered throughout that mostly don't matter until it comes time to buy small, replacement parts (if you want to stay "period-accurate"). You can go through the parts manual and look at the UOCs to see the differences on...
Dexron III should be alright and should be a heck of a lot easier to find. The -10 says that II or III can be used in the PS system. 1 qt for just the PS pump...1.25qt for also replacing the fluid in the cooler.
