No, what I was getting at is that I'm having a hard time understanding what the concerns are regarding raising the compression ratio in engines that are already being subjected to massive amounts of boost. Was just wondering why they're hold up to one and not the other.
Regarding compression, what's the difference between the static compression ratio and the effect that a turbo has? With a turbo, I guess it's more in/out, but the compression ratio would still determine how much that air is compressed beyond whatever psi it's at when it enters the engine. Is...
Talked to Jeff at Howe Performance about my project today and he told me that running the hydro steering + hydro brakes on the same pump should be no problem. He suggested plumbing from the pump straight to the brakes and then to the steering. Said that on some high-flow systems, the hydraulic...
No experience with military beadlocks, but with regular beadlocks there's a period of time when the tires are first mounted where the beadlock hardware needs to be checked and re-torqued regularly. You'll notice that over time, they'll start to hold torque, and then almost never need to be...
That's how I understand it. Multifuel 12V 6BT would be pretty rad, but then the only thing you'd gain is the ability to burn gasoline and that's really not such a big deal if the whole point is being able to burn everything else.
Realize, but we're not only talking about the final drive and top-speed - the gaps in the stock 5spd are much bigger than in transmissions we're talking about. Not trying to build a full-on OTR truck, just a bunch of incremental improvements that I hope will all add up to a much more drivable truck.
I'd like to explore the possibility of a transmission swap in order to get more gears, reduce the gaps, and make the truck more highway-friendly. But it's pretty low on my priority list. When I get around to looking into it, if I find that there's nothing that'll fit in there, then I'll go with...
Anybody reinforcing these roofs? Cut down a 900-series hardtop for mah deuce, and have been thinking about using fiberglass to reinforce it on the inside. Also planning on adding some sheetmetal on the top/outside, to create a low-profile roofrack. Saw how the ODiron roof was rebuilt. Anybody else?
Thanks for all the info Unforgiven. Very helpful. After re-reading the PDF and looking at your pictures/measurements I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to mount the Hydro-Max master-cylinder and booster assembly under the cab, either connecting it to the stock brake pedal linkage or...
No, the recommended the smaller one and then I got the bigger one on accident. But they said that it should be fine. There's a simple formula they use to calculate what size unit to spec, and it has to do with the percentage of oil in the system. Sorry, don't remember the numbers off the top of...
No, Deloreans have gullwing-style doors. And I was kidding about having the doors hinged at the bottom, but it would be less stupid than hinging them at the top. Easy enough to make built-in steps so it would be like the doors/staircases on airplanes. haha.
