    purchasing my first M35A2

Looks good to me. Appears as nice as the one I got for 4200. Mine has the cargo cover installed. Does it have all the bows for the cover?

    No tubo whine

Sweet!!! Just what my green one sounds like! You know, looking at your truck, there's a guy here in cheyenne that has maybe 6 GI trailers that would look good behind it. (picture is my truck). I will see if I can get photos for you tomorrow or this weekend.

    Labor for Brakes

The local shop that'll do my deuces charges $76 per hour, estimated at 12 hours to remove 10 wheels, replace all packing, seals, whatever (I provide all parts), replace brake shoes on leaking cylinder wheels and put the tires back on after greasing the bearings. Oh, and I provide the tech data...

    No tubo whine

My 72 A2 with an "A" engine, no doubt about it, has a whistler. Hearing protection is mandatory. My other one has a "D" engine and is pretty quiet. Don't really need hearing protection and can carry on normal conversation in the cab. Both do OK on speed although the non-whisler is a lot...

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

You might try the Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola FL. They have a HH-1K that is supposed to be in original colors. They may be able to get you the information. The CH-53 was painted the same color. The picture shows a faded scheme but it was shiny when it was first painted. Almost forgot...

    Attention texas

Holy smokes! Small world. Never thought I'd hear about Kermit again. If you were there or someone remembers, one of my Squadrons CH-53s broke there for 3 months. Broke sometime around July, August 1984. Got to play with scorpions, red ants and chase road runners, yee haw! Local cop was a...

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

Just found this thread. REALLY glad you decided to keep it on the ground. I HIGHLY recommend you do NOT try and run the engine. The T-53s of that era were great motors..but. They must have alot of TLC. The main transmission, the tail drive shaft...you name it. Very maintenance intensive...

Katrina Deuce Story - MUST READ

Jason No we pretty much have a paint job for every occasion. Most have the European 2 pattern. Some are blue, some are grey and I think we still have a couple white and orange ones. 4th MAW? Jeff

Well, I can't verify this a true, but I have heard that if you beat on your dipstick hard enough, eventually, it'll fit in the hole.

Katrina Deuce Story - MUST READ

Hueys at Columbus Sarge We operated out of Columbus AFB right after Katrina passed thru Miss. We flew daily to Gulf Port to support relief efforts, delivered food, water, whatever. I saw the devastation you drove through from the air in the back of a twin huey. **** fine mission. When crap hits...

    RPMs drop too low

Little more info on mine: first has an LDS 465-1A (low idle when cold); second has LDT 465-1D (no idle problems). First one runs like a frisky critter in heat, the second is slow on the draw. Possible sucking air, but wouldn't that cause surging as well? Possible worn igniters? Naw, that...

    RPMs drop too low

I don't have an answer but my 72 with a whistler turbo does the same thing till it warms up. Then it idles fine. My other 72 starts right up and Idles perfectly, difference, no whistler. Coincidence? Don't know...

    Axle Leaks

No, closest I ever made it to Rucker was flying over it on the way to CCAD. When were you at Rucker? The one time I saw it the place was covered in our old H-3's. Something about a project to make Hinds, or something like that. My time was spent all over in both the Marines and the Air...

    Axle Leaks

Gimpyrobb. wish you were closer too. Back before the accident, I rebuilt helicopters, no rotor head too small. Now, intense frustration that a simple bearing job has to go to a shop. Thanks for the advice Heavysteven, I'll put those on the list. aspann, from my experience with aircraft...
