WHO' S A FULL TIME LMTV OVERLANDER, ANY OUT THERE?

Also keep in mind that most things you can just walk onto a stealership and drive/tow away are mostly built on the inside with staple guns. So yeah, that stuff ends up at floor level pretty quickly off road. But at the end of the day, if you want it done "right" you do it yourself. ;)

Crazy Thought? M1079 box on a M1082 trailer?

Negative Identical through out. My AO 1078, A1R 1079, and both models of the trailer....all the same. I'm pretty certain that even the up-armored cab trucks run the same frame rail specs. All part of the "modular" concept.

Crazy Thought? M1079 box on a M1082 trailer?

Put a tape to it and it would fit w/o issue. The trailer obviously have a has different CoG, so the load is shifted aft more over the axle as one would expect. But just as with the 2.5t truck beds, the trailer bed sits atop the same two-beam configuration. With the bed removed, the only...

    M1078 LMTV Fix-up Thread

Are you sure that the new controller is compatible? I read somewhere that you can't put an A1R controller on a A0 truck. You don't have a modified psi sensor installed (the poor man's higher psi controller mod).

Crazy Thought? M1079 box on a M1082 trailer?

I'll be working out front tomorrow and my 1079 and one of my 1082's are next to each other. I'll have a look to see if it would actually fit with no other mods (beyond adding the lower captured spring mounts/retainers). I've seen plenty of S280's chained to the bed but those are a tad shorter...

Crazy Thought? M1079 box on a M1082 trailer?

It should in theory bolt right up in place of the bed. Pretty rare item, so that's why you've never seen it done. But it could be done...

    My First LMTV - M1078 A1 - Fluid Questions

You are showing the default (driving) configuration there. The "Cab - Push and Turn" inflates the airbags for the cab suspension. If you have leaks in the airbags or the associated lines there will be leaks of course. Leaving that knob "out" will cutoff any leaks in that part of the...

    MTV Front Left Mud Flap?

You can find them at auction at times. The OEM were rubber, but I've seen them made of wood. Surplus can be found, but you can find the exact same OEM rubber ones on the civilian market (just look for the RV/semi truck size, not passenger vehicle). This is what I use...

    MTV Front Left Mud Flap?

They hold the wheel chalks and chains.

    M1079 Transmission Fluid Question

Pull a sample from the sample port under the cab. You should be able to tell what's in there. As to what to use, I live in the south where it's hot year-round. My trucks have all run 15w40.

    60,000 BTU heater in M1079

Yep. I hit my head on that damned deflector thing once before it got deleted. LOL

Fun LMTV article on Four Wheeler's website today.

    My First LMTV - M1078 A1 - Fluid Questions

Hydraulic leak? It's the clearest I can think of, and it will mist all over the place if it's leaking at the latch/hose/control panel.

    FMTV gearing

I know the 53's are *really* close on the rear of the 6x6.

    FMTV gearing

    1) If I recall, Bryce has the 2.8x gears. A few folks on here run them. 3) Last I heard, Bryce was the last one persuing that but he stopped and shifted to converting AxelTech axels to retro fit (they have disc brakes, taller gears, and lockers already installed) but they obviously are not a...

    1995 M1078 Cranks But Won't Start

So true. I'm going to be doing a swap here in the coming months. I've pulled car transmissions before even 4x4, but never anything of this scale. I do have a small crane that I can swing above the trans and I've ID'ed all the lines and bolts for disconnect to do the drop. But I ain't in my...

How About a Military Camper Build Forum in General

I don't recall if Dragonbyte of vBulletin will let an admin move a partial thread. I haven't kept up with the newer versions. That said, if you know the post number in your thread where the build starts, make a note of that. Perhaps the solution would be to replicate the thread instead of...

Anyone with an LMTV Camper Thread

I should have been a bit more clear. Post to the linked thread not this one. Fixed
