Anyone with an LMTV Camper Thread

We're in the process of getting a Military Camper Build forum (yeah!). Anyone who has a build thread and would like to haver it migrated, staff has asked that you just let them know in the thread linked below...

How About a Military Camper Build Forum in General

No need to migrate unless the author wishes to do so. But if you build it they will come, as the saying goes...

3D Printed Tachometer Gauge Pod, with 12V / USB Outlets

Rgr all. It also dawned on me that clearance issue also arise when a Red Dot AC is added into the mix (even more so when it's a gen 3 due to extra height). And then there are the protection guards that extend the issues... I'm like you are far as trying to avoid obstructions to visibility...

3D Printed Tachometer Gauge Pod, with 12V / USB Outlets

Sweet stuff ! Personally, I'd kick the gauge face towards the driver and let the switches ride at 90° (just trying to fit the theme of the rest of the cockpit and the heater controls). Basically, keep the tech face at driver angle fit nicely over the airbrake controls. The rest squared up...

Changing the front cab mounts on the 1078A1

The steering side *IS* the worse of the two. I had grill, skid plate, and bumper off one time and remember saying to my self that that would be how I approached it when the time came (the current set are like new still). I've seen a few various methods for the driver side including jacking...

How About a Military Camper Build Forum in General

With so many people fleeing the censorship of FB etc and given that this site has such strong roots, would it be possible to add a General Group for camper build ideas? Just wondering as there are a lot of builders with no social media or forum platforms available (that do not wish to remain on...

Has anyone done the trans radiator / engine bypass to reduce heat soak?

I tried to start mine when we hit mid-teens. The starter was froze up. Everything was froze up. I went back inside. It's not supposed to do that down here. Stupid frozen windfarms and snow-covered solar need to get ripped out of our grid and replaced b7y new fossil-fired plants. :) I was...

LMTV Backup Hand Hydraulic Pump Questions.

I only learned that they shared the upper reservoir after wondering where all the fluid was going as I filled it (I had left the manual pump reservoir below uncapped). :)

LMTV Backup Hand Hydraulic Pump Questions.

The upper tank behind the cab will fill to the lower. I typically work my way between the two, filling and bleeding. Fill from the top and once it starts out the hole on the lower (use a bucket), plug the lower. Work the manual pump to work any air out of the system. Keep the upper tank...

    60,000 BTU heater in M1079

Nice adaptation. It still sounds like a jet engine? Mine is so loud I can't hear the TV when it's running. If I can get mine sorted out, I may keep it (but it's going to take a ton of soundproofing).

    60,000 BTU heater in M1079

I think it would heat my garage in the winter. So tiny house, sure... The only reason it has such short cycles is that it's a blast furnace that reaches temp far faster than it can cool. But it's just doing what the thermostat tells it.

    60,000 BTU heater in M1079

Rgr all. Fortunately I prefer my little electric over the Hunter. My diesel gen is loud enough w/o an enclosure still, but add in a blower that will drown it out (unless you do quite a bit of plugging and insulating because the blower is LOUD). ;)

    60,000 BTU heater in M1079

Mine has that Hunter heater and I've slept in the hab before. In sub-zero it works quite well. It's still a bit of overkill if you plug an insulate the other two front/upper sections. But I was in there this past week several times while we enjoyed our first winter in S. Texas (thanks for the...

    Aftermarket CTIS covers for FMTVs

I've posted HET covers in previous discussions. Just another example of the same concept. *not 14 ga You could come off four of the hub bolts by welding another bolt to the head facing outward. It would remove the weight/need for standoffs, moving some added mass to the center, though. Not...

Worth it or not- snow chain tightener Chain Dawg

Austin won't be inhabitable for about 80 years. Because...reasons. Hippie eradication is a long-term process. The new capital will be in Luckenbach. :)

    AC Option?

Yeah, I remember you posting pics of that when you got it I think.
