When I was in the army I tryed to get the support maintenance to weld some patches on a trailer. They said it was A) too far gone (I did not think it needed much work) and B) they could NOT do any welding because the safty officer would not let them.
I got 2 truck from a member in MO 1 had just the frame number like it should on the MO title. And 1 had the reg number added to the frame number. So they will do it right if you hold them too it. You just have to know more about there job than they do:???:.
On a side note check that the front and rear tires are the SAME SIZE. Not just by the numbers on the tires but are indeed the same size. If not you could mess up the sprage if you have not all ready. And all the stuff above too.
Thats because most pepole don't know what the vin# is on a military truck. And the numbers on the dash tag and the tag it self get changed. A lot of time I see the vin# and the reg # together on the dash tag. Another thing is most DMV's do not under stand military trucks either and want the...
The Manufacturer number IS the VIN#! It should be 4 numbers and dash/space then 5 more numbers(unless it is real old). And go by whats on the FRAME not the dash. The dash plate can and does get replaced and there is no telling what Billy Buba/PVT Pile stamped/scrated onto the replacement plate.
I had the same thing happen on my M818. I had taken the tool box and walk plate off to make it easyer to get to the fule line fitting on the tank. So it was easy to take out the pick up tube. This was after I check the line for leaks and fixed them but still could not get a prime with putting...
The plastic impeller has a metal hub that goes on the shaft. You can see it still on the shaft. I think the replacement one I got had a cast impeller (if I remember right). It was a new star from Erik's cheapist I found.
My M818 came from GL with some fork holes in the radiator:evil: So when I replaced it I did the belts too. Trying to adjust the belts I pulled the water pump out and found that the impeller (plastic) was cracked. It was still working but for how long who nows. My point is pull the pump and check it.
