I am fairly certain it is the Hubs, just not sure if the spindle could be part of the problem also.
Sourcing new hubs and rotors, going to replace them first and yes, I will have it re-aligned.
This was a GL axle from a 1008. There was not any forklift damage on the truck or drive shafts but...
The axle was rebuilt with all new bearings inner and outer also has new kingpins, bushings and springs. I also had an eaton e locker installed. re-used the hubs spindles and rotors.
I have double checked installation of wheel bearings and re-torqued and reset them per the TM. 50 LBS on inner...
The Dana 60 I installed on my 1009 has some wheel wobble. This is not the death wobble while driving. I do not have a dial gauge to get accurate measurements but at the top of the 16 inch rim, the wheel will move in and out approx. 1/8 of an inch or a little more. With stock size tires it...
Welcome from the Galveston area, hopefully we will actually have a Houston Rally one of these days. It has been talked about but as far as I know nothing has materialized.
you do have a rear locker which you probably noticed on your way home in the ice.
2wd can be safer because it allows more tires the ability to steer. if the tire is spinning then it is not steering.
in 2wd, 3 tires have the chance to steer. The one under power will probably do more spinning...
should be no problem, provided your maintenance is good. You could keep it in 4wd at all times if you wanted but your fuel mileage would suck and performance would not be good in certain situations.
As long as you do not have a front locker, they are dangerous on ice.
If you are going to fiberglass it and then try to recover you might as well just get the LMC plastic cover for $100, I had one and it looked good, mine was black and I have painted my doors black. Until you touched it, you could not tell it was a hard plastic. you could probably paint it the...
attached is another spread sheet that I did showing the difference in the plugs from the civy cluster with gauges to the cucv cluster without. The third chart is what I intended to change the plug to but decided not to use the plug and use individual connectors.
position 1 one the plug is the...
The plug to the gauge cluster is wired differently from the plug going to a cluster with idiot lights. The idiot lights have a hot wire to the bulb with the sending unit on the engine being the switch that supplies the ground. the sending units for gauges supply a variable resistance and not a...
one is for front axle Hi lo neutral and the other is for rear axle hi lo N. there is an interlock so one cant be in high and the other in low. however rear can be neutral and front in HI or lo.
The plate is a rear support bracket for the 205 made by trail tech fab. It has additional pieces that weld to the plate that has a rubber mount. It is not needed in my setup and I will probably take it off.
There are reports of this bracket causing driveline parts to break because it does...
I do not have any pics of my 208 that I removed but you can look under your truck to see one. here is my 205 with ORD magnum doubler. If you are getting rid of the SY then you will want CV style flanges especially if you are lifting the truck.
The install looks good, I however would look closely at some type of backing plate for the bumper and fair lead. If you have to pull yourself out with the cable at an angle, I think you may bend the bumper.
sounds like it may be in the ignition switch. The TM's will give you the wiring info to check the plug at the bottom of your steering column. Changing to 12V will have no effect on the ignition switch or the fuse block, all of that was already 12 volt. probably in the steering column.
Here is my setup for the front and will go to the back as soon as I get the rear receiver hitch.
If you can fab up the front cradle, you can do what I did.
The winch is a 12,000 lb mile marker.
He just thinks it will go on the back, he obviously has never tried to put it on the back. His mounts to the cradle were welded so no way it is interchangeable. It is a good setup for the front, for all the time spent on the mount, installing a front receiver would be just as easy.
Glad to see that the springs worked for you, It sounds like his project is on the same schedule as mine, I am a little over two years into my build at this time. It will be on the road soon but the build will probably last another two years.
Hopefully we can get both the trucks together at a...
I love the truck, my only suggestion would be to do a tranny swap for the next upgrade so you can actually get all that engine power to the road. The TH400 is strong but it is killing that high HP motor that you installed.
every one here would love to see an episode on the tranny swap.
second the civy filler neck with locking cap, adjustments may need to be made, if it came from a gasser like my 87 suburban the hole is not large enough for the diesel pumps, I had to make mine a little larger.
The best thing about the civy neck is you can stick nozzle in and it locks, on my...
