the stock fuel pump has to be removed to allow for the oil return line from the turbo to drain back to the motor through the block off plate that must be used where the stock fuel pump was removed.
I have seen the pump stay in place and the oil pan was modified by adding a welded on fitting...
I installed a tilt wheel with intermittent wipers on my 1009. The parts were from an 87 suburban. when I reconnected the wiper motor and tried to use them, the motor started smoking.
The first motor that I smoked was the original one from the 1009, I changed this motor with the one from the...
Finally driving, still have work to do.
Work got in the way but finally got the truck driving.
Built a mount for the magnum and 205, built the cross member, currently using modified stock rubber mounts to connect the two but will be changing these out soon. The magnum shifter is on top of the...
any one coming in from out of town, my family has a place 10 minutes down the road in Bayou Vista (I45 south and hwy 6). it sleeps 8 to 10 people. I will offer it to any SS member who needs an overnight stay. The Kemah weekend car show has a lot of people, It would be cool to flood it with...
I did not swap the doors but I did add power windows to my existing doors and I used the wiring, motors and regulators from an 87 suburban. the hard part is the switches, they have a special connector on the back. I would recommend getting the wiring harness from any 80's model truck at a...
I am not at home to measure mine, I would bet the binding you are hearing is the top u-joint in the driveshaft or the angles are mismatched causing the vibration. you could try dropping your t-case a little more to see if it clears up the issue just need some spacers and longer bolts to do this...
from the picture you have a 6 inch and possibly 8 inch lift.
from the description, I thought you were talking about the pitman arm being tubular not the drag link. Your drag link is not home made however the rear shackles are. The rear shackle mounts may not be dropped, they just flipped the...
if you have 37's with no trimmed fenders then you have a 6 inch or taller. need picks of what you have. sounds to me like you have front 6 inch springs, rear 4 inch shackle flip with two inch blocks to get the 6 in the back. to go to 4 inch, you will be fine in the back but a lot of fender...
You need to learn about the EUC (end use certificate) requirements before you buy. If you can purchase without a EUC then you can export the truck. IF you have to sign an EUC then it cannot be sold outside the country. I do not know if it can leave the country with you and then return.
I...
To use LED's you need a different flasher, the regular flasher does not work because there is not enough amp draw from the bulbs through the flasher. I used all Led bulbs in my 1009 except for the ones under the headlights. Use normal amber bulbs in the these two locations and LED every where...
4l80e shift linkage move
here is the bracket I made to move mine. I bolted the bracket to the original hole that the linkage went through. I made it out of some scrap. I may make a better one in the future. the second hole is there because I did not get it in the right place the first time.
you need to move the pivot point of bottom shift linkage back. I had the same problem with mine. The bottom piece (the one that goes into the shift fork on the tranny) will bind in the shift fork and cause it not to shift to 1 and 2.
TPS for 4l80e
for those looking to do the 4l80e swap, here is the throttle position sensor that I used. replaces vacuum style TPS on IP pump. I used the Dakota digital DS1 interface for the RPM signal.
I have never torqued wheel bearings. get everyting re-installed. tighten the nut as tight as you can and you should notice the wheel does not turn when tight, you tighten them as much as you can to make sure the bearings are seated on the race. You then have to loosen the nut until the wheel...
I do not beleive there is a cheap option. for the front you really need a locker you can switch on and off so an air or electric locker would be your choice. electric can be cheaper since you do not have to add a compressor. I beleive ARB and eaton both make a locker for the 10 bolt but I...
Why upgrade a 10 bolt? If you abuse it to the point that the gov lock breaks, you probably need to upgrade the axle.
I would put my money into a D60 and 14bolt instead.
