12 bolt hummer rim back spacing

I am considering buying rims and tires from trail worthy fab and want to make sure I get the correct back spacing and the best center. They have flat or pressed centers, not sure which is best. pressed works only with 3.5 inch back spacing I have heard the 3.5 inch back spacing is best but want...

My 4l80E install in my 1009, current progress

talked with TCI again today and discussed the new issues. From what I was able to tell them they informed me that they beleive they sent me a handheld programed with the fuel injection program and not the trans controler program. I was not able to talk to them until after 3pm today so now we...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

If it is just the tip of the spring that wraps around the cable, you can use some small wire to tie that end around the cable, thats what I did with mine. I do not have pics but could get you one. If it is broken elsewhere you probably can not fix. yes for some reason LMC charges a lot for these.

My 4l80E install in my 1009, current progress

Got the controler back today. The current history is: TCI received the controler on December 14 and notified me on december 17 that nothing was wrong with it. It was stuck in program mode when I had it. The hand held had a blemished screen and yes they were replacing it as soon as i gave them...

Best Thing You've Found in Your CUCV

and by the way I would be really, really pissed if they changed my dana 60 with trac lock to a 10 bolt open diff. thats about a $1200 difference in price. Are you sure it is a 10 bolt? my 1009 was pristine in the pics but when i got there GL beat the crap out of it with a fork lift, I almost...

Best Thing You've Found in Your CUCV

I would check your gear ratios on that 44. before putting it in 4 wheel drive. If it was a stock 10 bolt from a 1009 and still has the stock rear 14 bolt the gear ratios will not be the same.

    M1028 Crossover steering

cucvnut, I see you got the competition bump stops, with the lift you have do you ever hit those stops, i have 4 inch with zero rates and I dont think mine will ever hit the stops but I would like to know if it is possible

    Cold Outside Air Through Firewall

that is just a diverter that blows air three directions, will have nothing to do with the cold air issue. it is either your vent flap, side vents or a hole open behind the dash look at the diagnostic harness that goes through the firewall behind your trans dipstic to make sure the stopper is...

    2013 Annual TX MV Rally

I am planning on attending, this will be my first event. I have an 1985 M1009 looks stock from the outside but it is not. Rich

    M1028 Crossover steering

when you install a turbo from a 6.5 on a 6.2 the cross over pipe exits the rear of the engine on the driver side goes down and over behind the cross member and back up where the non turbo exhaust on the passenger side normally exits. The new cross over tube goes into the back of the exhaust...

New axles, 14 bolt floating good deal?

here is a good chart to help with identification http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml I am not aware of any RV rear axles that were 3/4 ton or single rear wheel only 3/4 suburbans got single rear wheel 14 bolts to my knowledge. IF it is going into a 1009 then you will have to move perches. if...

    M1028 Crossover steering

wow, that rod looks as strait as can be in the pic. I see you have the bourgeson shaft and new steering box. you might see if ord can get you a custom bent rod where the bend is closer to the pitman arm. The cheepest solution will probably be to take it to an exhaust shop

    M1028 Crossover steering

Yes, good catch sharecropper, he appears to have the wrong rod. I have not seen a banks installed but it appears his is different from all that I have seen. Please send us some pics of the top side. I am interested in how the passenger side mannifold is set up. I have been trying to get a...

New axles, 14 bolt floating good deal?

you will most likely have to move the spring perches and possibly the shock mounts. you will want to do the u-bolt flip if that has not been done. you have to go with a dana 60 in the front and that one will cost you some money. a dana 44 is the same thing as the 10 bolt you already have in...

Not exactly a CUCV but a Military 6.5L Turbo Diesel

Research the PMD module, from what I hear that is a weak point due to its location and it getting to hot and failing. There are some aftermarket fixes for this. Otherwise it is supposed to be a great motor. the 4l80e is a great tranny. if it is a 98 then the cooling lines should be split...

    gauge cluster conversion question

I was able to get the steering column back togather and the cluster installed and everyting is working with the exception of the water temp gauge. I think the gauge is bad. I can tell that the sending unit is working with my meter but the gauge does not move. I did however find out that the...

    M1028 Crossover steering

looks like the exhaust was ran in a different mannor than normal probably so that the frame did not have to be notched. I think you are going to have to modify the exhaust in order to use the cross over steer system. I am planning on adding a turbo in the future and wanted to do something...

    M1028 Crossover steering

sorry, any where near my exhaust, i do not have a crossover and if i did it would be in the back of the motor not front.

    M1028 Crossover steering

I had no issue with the exhaust being any where near my crossover on non turbo 1009. your exhaust must be quite different. does your cross over tube cross in front of the engine instead of the back? What lift are you running? must have 4 inch or larger to have clearance between pitman arm and...

    gauge cluster conversion question

todays udpdate: I picked up some shrink wrap number labels in order to document the connections for future trouble shooting and easy removal and reinstallation of the cluster. I am sure there are other ways to do this but this worked best for me. I wanted to get one big plug to run everything...
