air brakes have a fail safe system, if air pressure drops below 60 psi there is a big spring in the rear cans that start to apply the brakes. Once the truck starts and builds air, you should be able to release the spring brake when you push in the parking brake knob.
you scored and got the spare tire too a lot of the gp rigs are getting spares removed, mine still had one because the guy who TI'd it didn't know how to use the hand pump to get it off.
buy condition they are all good my preference goes to the big 855 as said before torque monster. I have driven both up by Fairbanks in - 40 first off invest in a fuel burning heater or you will be cold and the windshield will never defrost, secondly you will need a coolant engine preheater IE a...
I would think the same but I think I would try to run it with the muffler removed as those things can fill up. I have seen a lot of lazy operators take a 5 or 10 k out to run some lights coffee pot and a computer for a toc and never get load above 25 percent, unlike you they run them for days...
not going to make a decision for you here is what I considered before making the decision to go with the 4x4 lmtv. The mtv will have more payload which I may not use for that extra payload I will get an extra axle to maintain extra drive shaft and extra set of tires I will someday have to...
we were warned that extended running with out a proper load will cause the muffler to plug you may just have a ton of un burnt sludge in it showing up when you get it hot. Try removing the muffler and see if the smoke goes away, if not I would think injector replacement first, a straight shot...
the turbo charged macks were known to have weak cranks we had a na mack in korea it would pull a house down but just not fast. I remember it always had a very distinct sound
I would argue the statement about engines the 3116 has a 100k top end adjustment interval. We run their younger brothers the c-7 in a fleet of fuel trucks quite successfully .Most engine problems come from stuff added by the truck builder like fuel filters I seen this engine in construction...
for the amount of oil on mine I have no worries about the oil water separator if one does have a lot of leaks hot water is the way to go cold works fine for just dirt as does your pay and spray car wash.
had a fuel truck wrapped before shipment here it was a mess when we got it. Went through a bering sea storm the tank turned black every place the wrap touched it , spent days polishing it back up. I feel now I'm better off just to pressure wash stuff once I pick it up
dk 809 is more correct a torson diff with enough friction will bind and hold until the load is released it does take some friction to initiate this,, I have seen soldiers bind them up hard enough to blow up the carriers. other wise under normal conditions with total loss of traction or one wheel...
If the bi metal choke isn't working it is because the exhaust cross over is plugged up. All Chrysler v-8 of the time suffered this problem, but seemed more problematic with the small blocks, sometimes the intake had to be hot tanked to clear the carbon causing the obstruction.
the hmmwv has a gleason torsion torque sensing differential. It requires a little friction to put helical gears into lock up but a little brake pressure will do it the bucking and friction in a turn will happen with all 4wd vehicles even with open differentials because of the speed difference...
I normally suggest an oil change, but mine looks freshly changed with no miles on mine it. For me will be grease guns bp autran syn 295 for the transmission and change gear boxes out to synthetic fluids. At the end of summer I will change engine oil to 5w40 synthetic and service the air dryer...
I would suspect low idle, a carb problem vacuum leak, should be around 18 inches at idle, plugged idle bypass port, you adjust idle bypass with lean idle drop than back out 1/2 turn, or secondary ignition miss fire. If your timing light is jumping around suspect a timing chain I would think by...
