ash tray springs
i have mine out for painting and can post some pics tomorrow if they are needed. it has two springs but will work with one. i have a spare ash tray assembly if someone needs it.
timing gear
checked on latest gear drive availability at 6-5liter.com where i previously found for sale. apparently they no longer recomend because it transfers harmonic vibrations to the valve train. they now recomend keeping the chain.
must have had valve issues when using them.
better upgrade steer
for that tire you will need deep offset rims also have to have hydro assist with cross steer and extra frame brace for steering box. or you will spend your time fixing steering. i wouldnt run anything wider than 12 1/2.
going tall robs your power going wide breaks things.
mystery wire
check your gas pedal switch. mine was like that and disconnected. when i took the dash apart to paint, i was able to trace the wire back to what i believe is the ground side of the switch. the end was changed on mine (not original) as if someone was trying to plug it into the fuse...
gear drive timing
anyone done the gear drive timing setup, considering it as future option when waterpump is needed.
have not seen any feedback on gear drive system.
thanks
M1009 rear quarter
I will look at the one i am parting out, i think the right rear quarter was good.
i have torch and plasma cutter, would be willing to cut out what you need if it is good.
it is in texas, not sure what it cost to get it to you.

My neighbor wants to purchase the Motor, transmission, and x-fer case. from my M1009 and put it in his four runner Rock Crawler.
I believe he just needs the glow plug relay and control card.
i do not want to waste the wiring harness on the M1009 because i am saving it for future parts needs...
98 m1009
I beleive my m1009 that i am parting out came from colorodo in 98 to the first owner. the second owner had it from 2001 until i got it in 2005. i only know this because it was passed from friend to friend. and i was the third owner.
so i know they were selling them in 98. mine...
doghead realay and 12v
i have heard some people say the doghead relay is not nec. when going to twelve volt.
i have already bought it and planned on doing it along with 12V conversion.
I would think it would the relay would be required with 12v change since lower voltage means higher amperage...
i have a couple of new M1009 antenna mounts in box that i am putting on classifieds. they have the directions so i thought i would share them with all who are interested. hope they are legible they show to be issued in 1988 and were purchase from Saturn in 02

one other tip i forgot to add is rustoleum rust reformer. it works great on rust. I first brush with wire brush. rinse with
accetone. spray on rust reformer and wait 24 hrs. rinse and wipe excess off with accetone and rags. you should now have
a combination of shiny and black metal. The black...
your truck looks good, i hope you had your safety gear on.
i am repainting mine now and only sand/ grind if removing rust. had to do this in the interior floor and rocker panels
The best thing you can do with the CARC is encapsalte it. if you have to sand or grind do it with all the...
are you using an amsoil duel filtration kit, i had one on my last duramax. 215k and did not burn a drop of oil between 15k
oil changes, loved the amsoil and plan to add it to my m1009 in the future, would like to see picks of yours
i have been trying to decide what 4 inch lift to use myself. dont plan on going over 36 inch tires so why go higher.
got an M1009 and my head is spinning a little because i have looked at so much lift info lately i am not sure which way to go.
No blocks.
I think new springs are my only...
thanks for the input, i already have the 12v gear reduction starter which i beleive ran around $400 when i bought it 4 years ago for my first M1009 which is now the parts m1009 due to floor and body rot. it is barely used since i only drove the truck a dozen times a year for dear hunting.
For...
I have a M1009 and i am considering the 12V conversion.
the reason for the conversion is because i plan to add a much larger 12v load
in lights stereo and other accessories wich will cause exceptional heat from the resistor. and it is not the best 12V source, because the resistor nocks the...
todays work:
finished the framework behind the bumper, also found a rust issue under battery trey and in RF fender looks like a battery
went bad at one time and ate all the paint.
also pulled the parts in the dash, going to clean and wrap up everything behind the dash to make ready for paint...
yea i wish i could do something about the noise but where i hunt the deer do not mind because it is quieter than the trains they normally hear. one side of my deer lease is a very busy train track so sound does not bother them. If needed you can get 3 or 4 shots at them before they move...
