When I replaced my pto seals my gasket was .031.
I tried to check that had some backsash by hand, but that was about like guessing.
I think it would be safer to have a little more then less backlash.
RWG421, If you have trouble on your trip let me know. I have a 3 3/8" socket and spare bearing. But I think you should be ok.
Your pic of the trailer looks like a mate to the ones I just picked up about a week ago, nice trailers.

The one I got has never been used also. But the stacks are Aluminum and the paint is coming off of them. That will have to be redone.

I have a M105A2 that was rebuilt by VSE in 2009 and it does not have the reinforcements on the inside, but the stakes are very tight.
The side were a bear to get out.
I just looked at it and were they cut the metal for the holes for the stakes is not cut large enough and the metal is rolled...
I repalced my relay on the engine block and turned the disk and my truck still does it from time to time.
You just have to push the the start button again, two or three times and then it fire right up.
