I just changed the oil in my 04 dodge diesel, and it is already black from just driving around the locomotive barn here at work. 3 gal of oil.
Last time I changed my deuce's oil, it was black in about 5min of idle.
Let us know what you find out.
I've heard of transmissions somehow getting into two gears at once- I don't know if this can happen with a deuce transmission or not. I would check everything around the engine first- then the only other thing it could be was the engine.
Belts squealing could be anything- the clanging could...
lol that reminds me of a few years ago, when we were trying to start a Navy backup diesel. It hadn't ran in years, and it was cold cold cold out that morning. An old Chief put a cantalope in the exhaust. (why he had it, I don't know) When it finally fired up, it blew the melon onto the ship...
OPPS! I forgot to mention, it had an override switch, in case I was just stopping for a minute or for fuel, etc. I would sometimes let it blow until clear then hit the override when I stopped for fuel.
The 5min time was to completely drain the tanks if I knew I was done with it for awhile.
I built one for my deuce a long time ago, used a 24vdc magnetic door timer device, and two 24vdc 1/4npt normally closed solenoid valves. When you shut the power off on the main switch, it started a 5min time cycle and would open the valves. after 5min they would close and there wouldn't be any...
They would be great for that. I beat my xm818 up off road and on, hauling major loads and until last week, hauling WVO on a 300 mile round trip twice a week. 73k fully loaded. She don't do it fast, but she does it. They really shine when your pulling these types of loads off road. That's what...
That's all I do, filter and blend. I run it in an XM818, M109, 2004 dodge 2500, a air cooled pump, and a portable welder. Never had an issue, up to 75 WVO and 25 diesel. Winter I run 30 WVO to 70 diesel.
M818 of Death will be there... I've been pulling a 50k loaded tanker of WVO around with it.
I pulled a 200 ton locomotive and 7 100 ton stone cars off a barge with my m109 once... It will be there too.
I'm not seeing an issue here...
GOER AT THE GA RALLY!
Definitly a rare bird there. I saw one restored at Aberdeen years ago. Very cool truck. Now if David Doyle will ever find all the pieces to the CMU-5 I've been trying to buy off him for 4yrs...
I got a tank off a m101 set up for gens, it fits perfect. Problem is it has several spots where it is rusted out, but not like the other one, where the bottom of the tank was gone!
I have been debating how to fix it- weld patches on myself, or take it to someone.
Yes, I have one in my m109. Workes great, I can run 12v stuff in the back all day long and it keeps up with it. I put 3 optimas in the battery box. 2 for 24v and one deep cycle for the box.
Have you looked at my signature? I practically OWN one!
I thought there was some good stuff in the thread, and I'll also agree, some good threads go down hill fast around here...
