If you are not going to put a cab on it and just use a cage why not just build a 4x4? But an 8x8 would be unique. The idea of picking up an existing 8x8 chassis would same a lot of work and dollars even if you just striped it for parts.

What did you use for the sound insulation?

At least with a belt driven pump a leaking seal is not hidden inside the engine like a gear driven pump

Wedge brakes are fine until you have to rebuild them. The only way to make them work up to factory spec is to replace everything and that is not cheap.

Do you have any more photos and information on the shelter and the lifting jacks?
