I have an M1061E1 trailer I picked up from Jimma a few years ago. It had a lot of rust on it and I had it sandblasted and painted with 383 paint. It looks like new now. I routinely pull it with my M35A3 and previously pulled it with my M35A2 before I sold it. The A3 maxes out at 45 mph, but...
When you say the transmission tries to move in reverse, is the transmission slipping? Does the engine lug down while trying to go in reverse? Perhaps the parking brake is locking up in reverse? I had that happen once in a deuce I previously owned when a spring in the parking brake broke.
I need to adjust the slave cylinder on my FLU419. The TM says to tilt the cab, which I don't necessarily want to do. I haven't actually looked at the SEE yet to make a determination because of other non-related issues. Can the slave cylinder be adjusted without tilting the cab? I've...
I've been thinking the same thing. Between hills and a 45 MPH top speed for my M35A3, interstates scare me. I spend most of the time with emergency flashers on. I've had some very close calls with being rear-ended in the past.
The first thing is to pull the cover off the engine and check the linkage. Make certain that nothing is bent and that the linkage moves freely. If you have a bent rod, rusty or broken springs, replace them. I thoroughly lubed my linkage, replaced the rod and all springs. If everything looks...
I would second using the 395/85R20 tires as a replacement for the 14.5R20 tires. I'm still running the original 14.5R20 tires on my M35A3, but I've already had one tire sidewall fail during the recovery several years ago. The tire actually caught on fire. I run my 14.5R20 tires with 60 PSI...
To break the bead I have a tractor with forks and I place the forks on top of the tire almost touching the wheel. This makes a good firm base for using the pry bars.
My MEP003A is hooked up to the house through a manual 400 amp transfer switch and covers all circuits. I don't pay any attention to the load. It handles everything without difficulty, including geothermal heat pump, ovens, dryers, etc. The engine lugs down occasionally, but the genset has no...
I worked in an underground marble mine in North Georgia ~48-50 years ago and they had an M37 that had a Ford diesel tractor engine in it that was permissible to use underground. I don't know what model engine it was. When I drove the truck it had the original transmission and transfer case...
I replaced the three drain valves on my FLU419 and had a terrible time getting them loose. As mentioned, it was the sealant. I finally heated the surrounding area with an acetylene torch and still couldn't loosen them. That is until I used a Ridgid aluminum 36 inch pipe wrench. That was...
Scoobyshep is right. When doing it the wrong and dangerous way, you can not only kill someone, which would be horrible, there are other downsides. You can end up in a major lawsuit which could cost you everything, and you can also be prosecuted for manslaughter. It doesn't cost that much to...
With #6 wire and only 80 feet you shouldn't have much loss in the cable. I suspect you have some heavy loads trying to engage at the same time in the house. I would cut off all breakers in the house and then switch each breaker on consecutively one at a time and measure the voltage in the...
I installed a Square D 400-amp manual transfer switch for my MEP003A genset. I got it on Ebay new in the box for ~$200.00, which was a fantastic price. It also powers the whole house so no selecting critical circuits. If you do it right with a transfer switch, there are zero worries.
If they don't find anything bad, now would be a good time to switch to Dexron 3. I purchased 5 gallons of Dexron 3 equivalent from NAPA under the NAPA brand, which I was told is the same as Valvoline Dexron 3. The repeated drain, fill and drive technique worked great for me, but did take some...
I seem to experience 0 dark 30 outages all too often. It seems our power almost always chooses to go out after dark. I have to go outside and plug in the cable to the genset, throw the manual transfer switch and start the generator. It only takes about 5 minutes but it is a hassle. We have a...
