Ether is a bit like Russian roulette when used on a diesel engine, you might get away with it, if it is a very short squirt, but it is best to avoid if you can.

p.s. I too think you have air in your fuel lines
You may have an output lead connected wrong, double check, also post numbers for L1-L2, L1-L0, etc. depending on voltage mode, mostly we would be looking at the right ratio here not the voltage. If the ratio is right it is probably your voltage regulator or transistors.

For the Yanmar you need to search on MEP-016E, for the Onan Air filters and fuel filters are hard to find as they are not standard parts, but can sometimes be found on ebay, etc.
Air filter for the Onan powered MEP-701a is Nelson 70301-N
Oil Filter is Napa 1378 (numerous crosses here as it is...
The general suggestion in the commercial generator world is when dealing with a mechanical governor generator is to set it so it droops under constant load to 60 hz, often this will mean setting the no load speed to 62 Hz, and allow for drop to 58 hz when sudden load is applied
These days most digital clocks have in internal quartz crystal reference and don't really care about frequency for the most part most appliances don't care that much with the world market since most of Europe uses 50 Hz, the U.S. uses 60 HZ, then there is Japan where it is really crazy, the...
There is a message thread going on over on the Smokstak board on this very topic, it seems OSHA has issued new guidelines to NOT drive ground rods for portable generators. Of course if you have it connected to site wiring the NEC code may apply, which opens another whole can of worms over how...
I have heard of it happening with civilian Onan diesel J series engines when they were installed in applications where they would run many hours at low load, the DJB and DJC units were commonly installed for supplimental power in buses, fire trucks, and other diesel powered vehicles as well as a...
Ok, let me try to clear up a couple of things:
It is fine to run this generator to power a saw or other power tools that you plan to run every few minutes, or even a few light bulbs, the problem with wet stacking comes in when you do this hour after hour, day after day. In general to avoid wet...
If it is a site that requires GL pickups to enter through the commercial truck gate, I suggest getting there very early, I had a pickup at Hooks a couple of years ago scheduled for about 8:30 am, I arrived early at 7 am and the big trucks were already lining up for the 8:00 am gate opening., I...
The current pulsetech 24V solar products (which are used by the military, have an NSN number, etc) are rated at 6 watts, their 12V units range from 3-25 watts, as a rule of thumb a well placed fixed solar panel will generator 5-6 times its peak output rating in watts per day from a typical mid...
Mike KK4AIF that is the way the traditional units work, the newer ones add that on top of a DC charging circuit, then revert to the mode you describe when the battery if fully charged.
Their newer models also charge (now sold as solar conditoiner/chargers) , it seems they have dropped the solargizer name from these now, but for a while these same models (look the same, and same part numbers) were being sold with the Solargizer name. The older models did "minimal" charging...
Welcome, and good luck, you may also want to look over in the GL section on advice and information regarding pick up at your specific location, things like access restrictions, which gate you must enter, etc..
Onemore comment on chaning the charging regulator, you will probably want an assortment of long flat head screwdrivers, it is possible to get one that will fit between the relays on the relay board and still be big enough to turn the screws on the 2 mounting screws once you lossen the nuts on...
If you find one let us know, this question comes up fairly often. As to your original meters, most of the time the problem is in the transducer not meter itself.
If your problem turns out to be the battery charging regulator there is a seller on ebay that has them for $100, note they are poorly listed, search on "libby regulator", I just had to replace mine due to over charging which killed my battery. If you do have to replace the regulator note the...
My MEP-701a / 016b with the 1 cylinder Onan is connected for 120V only mode and will accept an instant near 3000 watt resistive load (a pair of 1500 watt cube heaters) with no noticeable strain the only difference that you see is a slight drop in frequency on the meter (down 1-2 HZ) and maybe a...
It is raining this morning, but I will try to get out to the back yard and see what the data plate on mine says soon.

ps checked, you were right, manual says empty weight 532 full 590
